ATTRACTION AT FIRST SIGHT CAN BE MESSY...
When Tate Collins finds airline pilot Miles Archer passed out in front of her apartment door, it is definitely not love at first sight. They wouldn't even go so far as to consider themselves friends. But what they do have is an undeniable mutual attraction.
He doesn't want love and she doesn't have time for a relationship, but their chemistry cannot be ignored. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up, as long as Tate can stick to two rules:
Never ask about the past and don't expect a future.
Tate is determined that she can handle it, but when she realises that she can't, will she be able to say no to her sexy pilot when he lives just next door?

Review
"A must-read book of the year! I loved every word, I felt every moment, and I will never forget this story. I don't give out a lot of 6 star ratings (in fact this will be the first one I've given this year) but the truth is that this book went above and beyond. The story was powerful, the writing was stunning, and the way every single piece of it was woven together was simply breathtaking."--Aestas, blog review

The thing with books about friends with benefits you always assume how it is going to end and that's fine. But what makes this book stand out against all the others is Miles journey to get to where he is. He is a completely original hero and one you cant help but fall in love with.
Miles' loving nature was shown brilliantly and if it showed you anything it showed just how hard he loved.
Tate is a strong heroine, her character is lovable, her journey is still a strong one but on a different level than Miles'.
Together they have chemistry you can feel. I never felt that sex was just thrown in there for the sack of it, it all had a point.
It was filled with passion, emotion, it was sexy and every scene in this book counted. It all carved a great story to perfection.
I think I will forgo the story analysis and just talk about the character that I loved and hated so much. When we first get to know Tate, I had mixed opinions about her, I thought she was smart and intelligent, then when she gets herself involved with Miles, and it is clear she is out of her depth I began to think she was too weak and vulnerable. But then the more I read about her, the more I realised she was not weak at all, she risked her heart for Miles, even when he continually told her that she meant nothing to him, she hung on, she believed even subconsciously that she could sway him, she knew deep down that this was her shot.
For such an outwardly confidant and seemingly easy going man Miles is a basket case, he is a mess inside, he is destroyed and knows he has no hope of recovery. When he meets Tate she makes him feel again, but being the stubborn guilt ridden bastard that he is he refuses to feel anything for her, or refuses to let him self feel anything for her and he pretty much uses her. He knows she has feelings for him but he is too powerless to give in to these feelings, he knows he is breaking her but he cant stop himself, he cant keep away just as much as he cant have her.
This book actually got a bit hard to read, like I mentioned earlier. There was so much emotions involved with these two characters, it hurt to see them both hurting. As much as I wanted a HEA I was not 100% sure that we would actually get it, becasue in real life there sometimes aren’t happy endings, the way Miles was so adamant that he could never love again was not an easy journey for him to overcome. That being said I am not going to spoil this book for you, just do yourself a favour and read this book, but don’t expect a happy lovey dovey romance, this is real life people!!!

My star rating reflects the service/advertising, the book itself is a 4 star read for me.

Ugly Love has not only stolen a little piece of my heart but maybe the whole damn thing. I was completely swept up in Miles and Tate's amazing story. I fell in love with the way Colleen completely shattered my heart and then slowly pieced it back together, I love that I lost myself in all that was unfolding before my eyes and like a starved animal, I devoured it all. Every. Last. Word.
The story is so perfectly balanced, it's angsty, beautiful, ugly, honest and completely raw. There is no sugar coating the pure emotion and the chemistry is off the scale. Whatever you feel from what you read, you will will feel is completely and while heartedly.
No good love story is simple, where would the fun in that be? It has more ups and downs than a rollercoaster, it has the power to break your heart and make you pray that love is strong enough to conquer whatever life decided to throw in its path. Ugly Love has this magical way of combining all of the above and making you hang on to top the very end to find out how it ends. It doesn't help that Miles is well just gah! I love him, all of him! He may be a little messed up, he may be closed off and he may be an absolute tool sometimes but he's a tool I would happily have!! And Tate. Isn't she every one of us women? We have all been in that situation. Hoping that by sticking it out and holding on, no matter how much it kills us, we will eventually get what we want not matter how impossible it seems. The feelings, emotion and decisions, what woman hasn't been there. I certainly have. I think that is what makes Ugly Love able to steal its readers hearts.
I am off to find me more CoHo to read and immerse myself in.
But for those of you who haven't read Ugly Love? Get to it! You won't be disappointed.
