5.0 out of 5 starsUnmissable. Heartbreaking. Insightful. BUY THIS BOOK!

I’m just over half way through this book but I couldn’t wait a moment longer to leave a 5 star review.

This is a book for the ages. A masterpiece of contextual thinking. One that makes you feel everything, think differently about everything and bask in the genius and sensitivity of the literary delivery.

I learned about Glennon on Brené Browns podcast, which was beyond interesting, but contained only really a glimpse of her deep insight and inspiring humility.

This book is a collection of stories, metaphors and musings that could not be more relevant to the current socio-cultural climate.

I am learning, growing and feeling deep grace with every page I read.

If you are sitting there trying to decide whether to purchase this book - you must! It is an investment in yourself, your family and your role in the future of humanity.

Thank you Glennon for such a groundbreaking piece of work. 🙏🏻

I only read the book for bookclub and I found it's hard to believe that it has such good online reviews. I appreciate the honesty of the author sharing her lifestories and the interesting angle for the beginning of the book, but the book itself seems lack of content. The structure of the book reminds me of reading these inspirational book. It keeps repeating the same thing in different formats throughout chapters. The language was dull and prosaic.

This book literally changed my life. I underlined so many fantastic quotes that deserve recognition. Glennon has an incredible way of writing that just slaps you in the face and enables you to wake up to the society we have just taken at face value for far too long. She touches on so many important topics such as women’s roles in society, black lives matter, taking risks, following your inner voice and knowing, meditation, same sex marriage, religion and the church and everything in between. I’ve already got three of my friends reading it and I’m dying to read it again just to reprocess it all. Thank you Glennon for putting into words everything I have been feeling for a long time. Xx

I don't follow Glennon Doyle and had never heard of her until I watched her on an episode of Shine On with Reese Witherspoon. She said something in that interview that really spoke to me and I ended up purchasing this book on an impulse. I wasn't expecting much, so I was really surprised when I found myself highlighting every other paragraph and re-reading the whole book for the third time in a week. Glennon's words seem to have embedded themselves on my soul, and have me thinking very deeply about who I am, how I feel about my life, and what I want my life to look life. Not what other people tell me I should want, what I actually want. Since reading it I seem to be collecting similar works by other authors, coming across podcasts and blogs that are opening my eyes to some truths about myself that I had previously had no inkling about. It seems to me that reading Untamed has been the key that has unlocked a very deeply hidden part of myself, and I can see deep changes coming into my life. I highly recommend this book to all women, but especially to Mama's who may be struggling with their identities since having babies.

So I have followed Glennon’s journey having first seen her on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday. I enjoyed Love Warrior and in the face of all the life changes she has gone through since then - which I’ve read about online - I was initially unsure whether the book would tell me anything I hadn’t already heard about her story.

I was so wrong.

Quarter of the way through I was texting my best friend saying “you have to read this”. Several pages later I was like “I’ve not even finished it and I’ve already ordered you your own copy”. I read it cover to cover TWICE in one weekend. The second time with a highlighter

What is so great about it?
- her message for women and how easy it is to get trapped in lives that aren’t REALLY who we are
- her message for young girls - and the great story of how Abby coached their daughter through sport that sometimes you have to do hard things that you don’t want to do in order to get to what you DO want
- her message for boys that they owe responsibility to their families and to muck in with all the chores at home
- her message about online porn and what it does to young people’s brains if they’re not taught healthy messages about sex

I could go on. But I won’t. Cos you should hear it from Glennon not me.

It made an immediate difference to me. I got up and out and asked for what I wanted in an area of my life. And lo and behold it looks like I’m gonna get it

Be untamed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Untamed should be compulsory reading at 16

Read this like the quality of your love of self and life and forgiveness depends on it, because it does.

I have gifted this book again and again, I have WhatsApped, emailed, texted and chatted about how this should be compulsory reading at age 16.

I’ve had two fairly life changing epiphanies whilst reading Untamed.

I can not recommend Untamed enough. Please give Glennon and Abby a follow on Instagram- they will lift you and cheer on your Untaming.

Thank you both for sharing your light!

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn’t match the hype for me...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 June 2020

Before starting this blog I’d never heard of Glennon Doyle before, then came to learn she is Abby Wambach’s wife and it pricked my attention along with all the hype it is getting.
————————
It touches on a variety of subjects aside of her own experiences such as divorce, sexuality, blended families, raising children, racism, activism, spirituality, feminism, addiction and mental health.
*
Glennon tells the second half of her story in her latest book, in a way that is quite raw and honest. Whilst also acting as a self-help book. For me part 1 and 2 came across a little preachy and I didn’t feel I learnt/was enlightened much by its content throughout.
*
I have to say that Glennon and Abby’s story does pull on the old heartstrings and is a fairytale in some respects, which I appreciated and enjoyed.
*
All in all not a bad book, yet not one I’ll rave about to others. However, it is a book full of energy and passion in the authors writing, a bit of a rallying call (for the right audience).
—————————
Key take aways:

- What is most important is what you think of yourself and being the best version of you (that you can be)

- Pleasing others doesn’t always lead to pleasing yourself

- Pain can fuel revolution (change)

- Form your own values rather than those set by social constructs

- Life isn’t easy but it sure as hell can be worth it, by focusing on what you want it to be and letting go of fairytales and expectations

Okay. Full disclosure. I didn’t know that Adele had “bigged” up this book. I bought it a long while ago as an impulse buy when I was feeling a bit needs and book buying seems to curb that feeling. I started reading it not really knowing what to expect. I thought it was fiction. I bought it because I thought the cover was pretty. Kudos to the person that designed it.

I did not know that Untamed was a memoir. I did not know that it was a book about having a positive mental attitude. I think I came to Untamed a little bit unprepared.

Untamed is a good read. Glennon Doyle is a great writer and manages to get her point across. I did feel much more positive after reading it. I don’t really think there is much more I can say about it than that. I am glad it has found an appreciative audience and I did like it but it wasn’t a book that changed my life the way it did Adele’s.

What I will say is that certain chapters – those on race and sexuality really did leave a lasting impact. For those chapters alone Untamed is worth reading. The rest of the book is just a bonus.

Untamed by Glennon Doyle is available now.

after reading what adele said about this book being life changing, i was nosy enough to want to seek & buy it, the delivery was ( complex) as it was not sent to my home address? but royal mail just kept trying to find the right person...so eventually it got to me> ? was the wait worth it? the book was not bent but in pristine condition. and the writers wording very much in line of the road less travelled and men are from mars and women from Venus....was it life changing no....but easy to read, the sort of book to take on a plane or train, i read it in one night, like i said its not overly hard to ingest, but GOD does come into question and the spirit and soul. Life emotions are often hard to work out - and so this is a story about life's journey and we all have something to say....in that compartment.
