5.0 out of 5 starsUnmissable. Heartbreaking. Insightful. BUY THIS BOOK!
Reviewed in Australia on 4 April 2020
I’m just over half way through this book but I couldn’t wait a moment longer to leave a 5 star review.

This is a book for the ages. A masterpiece of contextual thinking. One that makes you feel everything, think differently about everything and bask in the genius and sensitivity of the literary delivery.

I learned about Glennon on Brené Browns podcast, which was beyond interesting, but contained only really a glimpse of her deep insight and inspiring humility.

This book is a collection of stories, metaphors and musings that could not be more relevant to the current socio-cultural climate.

I am learning, growing and feeling deep grace with every page I read.

If you are sitting there trying to decide whether to purchase this book - you must! It is an investment in yourself, your family and your role in the future of humanity.

Thank you Glennon for such a groundbreaking piece of work. 🙏🏻

I only read the book for bookclub and I found it's hard to believe that it has such good online reviews. I appreciate the honesty of the author sharing her lifestories and the interesting angle for the beginning of the book, but the book itself seems lack of content. The structure of the book reminds me of reading these inspirational book. It keeps repeating the same thing in different formats throughout chapters. The language was dull and prosaic.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read

An eye-opening, semi-autobiographical examination of social norms and how they dictate our thinking and behaviour. Doyle beautifully describes how our socially structured and imposed systems of belief cloud our innate personal judgement, preventing us from being our genuine selves and living our true lives. This is a relevant, inclusive, non-threatening and inspiring book. This is a great starting point for all (especially Gen X and Boomers who may find some feminist style writing a little alarming and smash-the-state). A must-read.

This book is for smart women who are a little nuts. It’s actually for any woman with heart who has found the constructs of this society limiting and constraining, whether it be family, school, religion, relationship. Glennon finally gives relief because she is dismantling all these systems with her questioning and I’m finally reading a voice that feels like me that I’ve never heard before quite like this.

This book literally changed my life. I underlined so many fantastic quotes that deserve recognition. Glennon has an incredible way of writing that just slaps you in the face and enables you to wake up to the society we have just taken at face value for far too long. She touches on so many important topics such as women’s roles in society, black lives matter, taking risks, following your inner voice and knowing, meditation, same sex marriage, religion and the church and everything in between. I’ve already got three of my friends reading it and I’m dying to read it again just to reprocess it all. Thank you Glennon for putting into words everything I have been feeling for a long time. Xx

Doyle is a masterful writer. She's definitely a talker. From her Instagram profile you do wonder if she'll stay in the relationship because with all her so-called intuition, she is definitely difficult to live with. I dislike the bits in the book where she says eg "this is what I said to my son" and then she goes on to fill 2 or more pages with what she said, and I think if she'd said all that to me I would've given up listening - she's pretty full on about herself. This happens a lot throughout the book. A good read though and for the price of an ebook, well worth it. It is a love story too.

For a year my closest friends have told me I should read this book. I’m so so glad I finally did. Short chapters, like a collection of essays. Fast paced but entertaining, funny but thought provoking. Masterful writer. Not a light read though. Read this if you like going deep. I’ve read parts out loud to my husband and he’s so fascinated by the insights he’s reading it next!

Enjoyed reading this book. Such a beautiful and honest account of lessons learnt within a cage that society creates and then the freedom that comes with breaking out. Great messages for everyone.
