1.0 out of 5 stars Its a no from me

I am sure that David Leadbeater is a great author however this story just didn't do it for me. I am an avid reader and have read an average of 1 novel each week for the past 20 years. Most times I enjoy them and rarely have to struggle to read through to the end. This however was one of those novels where reading it was simply an exercise to get to the last page. It all started off rather well but then went downhill quickly from there. Unengaging characters with little depth, the usual Easter egg hunt scene swapping in different countries with the same plot lines, continuity holes such as quoting four clues found after only the second one had been discovered, the list goes on. So, all-in-all, a rather flat story that had so much promise but failed to deliver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed adventure.

Action packed adventure and so much more can be found in this the first book of a new series, which I'm sure will be another bestseller for David Leadbeater. this book introduces a mixed bunch of characters, tasked with a babysitting job which rapidly becomes something completely different. A wee cheeky mention of a certain Yorkshire man didn't go unnoticed either. I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series. (which is on pre-order) and won't disappoint.

This all started out so well. Liked the Characters, fast paced, good read..then it gets spoiled by the usual drivel, the Church hiding that they found the body of Christ. I love a good mystery attached to the Church but really! It's becoming old hat, a different take would be great, what if someone actually wrote pro Christianity, it would be much more novel (pun intended).

Join Mason and his motley crew as they chase the clues leading them to The Book of Secrets around the world. Will they stop an ancient sect from destroying Christianity and will they find themselves and move on with their lives? Great action and story line. I'll be reading the next in the series as soon as its released.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful

Histrionic characters too unlikeable and unbelievable.

If there's another adjective to describe one of the character apart from 'Raven haired American' I didnt find it.

I couldn't finish this book. The characters were caricatures and not the slightest bit empathetic.

The plot flew off into wild fantasy.

I dont like putting bad reviews but I really could not finish this book.

Was really excited to read this new adventure thriller from my favourite author. I love the way the story pulls you in quickly, bringing the characters to life, painting the story and wrapping it up with a little history. Am hoping there is a lot more to come from Joe, Roxy and the team.

Some new characters and a new series from one of my favourite authors. This new book takes a bit of time to introduce you to some new characters but keeps the pace of the story going all the time. Can’t wait for some more adventures from them

3.0 out of 5 stars Readable but disappointing

This book felt like it was lazily written. The second half jumped from action to action with not enough build up. A good story could have been made better but it read like the author got bored towards the last quarter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just enjoy the ride!

I really enjoyed this - it did remind me a lot of Australian author Matthew Reilly with its blend of action-packed adventure set in a race-against-time-through-history to save the world. The key is this: Don't take it too seriously, hold on tight and enjoy the ride! 4 stars.
