The third, and sadly for the fans, final season of the show. You won't be looking at this unless you've seen the other seasons, and it won't make the slightest bit of sense if you haven't watched them either. It's probably easier to think of this as the third part of a trilogy, with the themes and arcs spanning all three seasons.
Largely it's business as usual - sex, politics, genius, a little bit of the supernatural mixed in for good measure, starting in Otranto at the point that Season 2 ended, and defending Italy from the invading Ottomans is the theme for the season.
It's perhaps a little over long, spending the second half of the season putting a few blocks in place for the never to be made next season, but happily it largely ties everything up, and while there are some minor threads that you would have expected to seen pulled on in the future, it's nothing of any great significance. Generally it's pretty satisfying, no great shocks or surprises, but keeps up the standards set in the first two seasons, and allows the characters to develop. They even bring Dracula back - who can't love that?
Like the blu ray releases of the other seasons, no extras to speak of so you just get the shows. Personally I'm not too fussed about it, but it does leave a bare bones feel to the package.
