For dharma students involved in Guru yoga, specially focusing on Guru Rinpoche, this potent text will deepen and expand that practice a lot, I think. It is accessible but profound and presents outer, inner and secret perspectives in a very practical way.
It’s not a book ideally suited to people curious to find out about Tibet or Guru Rinpoche in a general way.

The text called the “Seven-Line Prayer” is said to contain the most sacred and important teachings of the Nyingma school and is recited daily by many Tibetan Buddhists. White Lotus unlocks the secret of the prayer and explains its meaning on many levels.
The author, Jamgön Mipham, was a celebrated nineteenth-century scholar who was known for his prolific, lucid, and original writings on many subjects, including science, medicine, and philosophy—in addition to Tibetan Buddhist practice and theory.

If you are interested in the Lotus Born, PadmaSambhava (the meditation master who brought Tantric Buddhism to Tibet) and you would like to deepen your relationship to his mind and energy, then this is a very potent little book. It is a commentary on the famous 7 line prayer- a special prayer that many, many Tibetans use to summon this great teacher. It is written by the luminous master Jamgon Mipham from the 1800s. It is written on many levels so you can access the level that speaks to you- from beginner right up to the ultimate teachings of the Nyingma (ancient school) and Dzogchen (Great Perfection) teachings.
I love this book. I found it absolutely brilliant and accessible. There is a huge amount of Buddha Dharma coded into the 7 line poem, and Mipham Rinpoche does an amazing job of unpacking it for you to enjoy. 6 stars out of 5. Highly recommended.

a perfect masterpiece of Buddhist heart-teachings

Most wonderful mind terma of Mipham Rinpoche, explanation of the 7-line-prayer according to the outer, inner, secret and ultimate meaning with a special focus on the point of view from the path of secret mantra and dzogchen. Also explains the role of the teacher and the practice of guru yoga according to the different levels. Nothing has to be added, no word to much, even the foreword is worth reading, most marvellous! It contains the whole of Vajrayana Buddhist teachings, starting from history and outer form till the innermost teachings of the Upadeshas in most condensed form.
