Then: Twenty years ago, Alys’ husband, Sam, was in a terrible car accident that left him fighting for his life. His recovery was slow and painful and, just at the point when Alys began to hope, he sent her away, refusing to see her ever again for reasons she could never understand.
Now: Married again and living in a new town with a new family, Alys feels like she’s sleepwalking through life. She’s just lost her job, her grown-up daughter is flying the nest, and her new husband doesn’t see – or even seem to care about – the downward spiral she is in.
But a chance encounter changes everything. As the life she could have had crashes into the one she settled for, Alys must decide whether or not to reveal the lie she’s been telling everyone all these years. Will it tear apart the ones she loves, or could it set them free?
An emotional, page-turning family drama about the difficult choices and sacrifices we make to protect the ones we love. Perfect for fans of Amanda Prowse, Kerry Fisher and Jodi Picoult.

About the author

After a varied career, Emma Davies once worked for a design studio where she was asked to provide a fun and humorous (and not necessarily true) anecdote for their website. She wrote the following: 'I am a bestselling novelist currently masquerading as a thirty something mother of three.' Well the job in the design studio didn't work out but she's now a forty something mother of three and is happy to report the rest of her dream came true.
After many years as a finance manager she now writes full time, and is far happier playing with words than numbers. She lives with her husband, three children, and two guinea pigs in rural Shropshire where she writes in all the gaps in between real life. It's a county she adores, her love of its beautiful people and landscapes providing endless inspiration for her books, and in fact the only thing that would make Shropshire more idyllic is if it were by the sea.
Pop over to her website www.emmadaviesauthor.com where, amongst other things, you can read about her passion for Pringles and singing loudly in the car. You can also wave to her on twitter @EmDaviesAuthor or find her on Facebook (a little too often than is good for her).

Emma has created a story that pulls on your emotional heartstrings. It is a tale of a love lost, a deeply buried secret and a woman’s quest to get her power back. I was instantly hooked from the first page as I was pulled into the story and I was disappointed when it ended. It really did consume me.
I just loved Alys’ character. The sadness emanates off her in waves and she really got under my skin. I just wanted to reach into my Kindle and hug her tight. Nancy was also such a standout and I fell in love with her. She is the type that gives unconditional friendship and she is one friend you wish you had. Both of these women are such memorable characters that will always stay with me.
The one character that I could not find any empathy for is Hugh! Oh my goodness if I wanted to reach into my Kindle to hug Alys, for Hugh, although I don’t condone violence, I wanted to reach in and slap him! He made my blood boil and is just a despicable man, but in saying that he has been written in this role perfectly for you to have these feelings.
Emma’s writing is second to none and with it evokes a range of emotions. Her words are so beautifully written that I found it so hard to tear myself away from the story. She has a real gift and this is just one example of her prose that resonated with me. “We all need space. Unless we have it, we cannot reach that sense of quiet in which whispers of better things come to us gently.”
The Wife’s Choice is a compelling and enthralling story and is one that is the perfect escape to get lost into and forget about everything for a few hours. It is raw account of self discovery, a second chance at life and the sacrifices that one makes for their family and it is one book that I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you for this book Emma and I will be eagerly awaiting to read what you come up with next.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Emma Davies for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Wife’s Choice which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

To be honest this was sitting in my TBR list for a couple of weeks whilst I was reading stories with a lighter subject matter. When I eventually started reading it I realised that I had been missing an excellent book. I found myself engrossed in the story, hoping that Alys would find herself a new career more in line with her original dreams and also sort her marriage out with her controlling husband. I eventually finished the book at midnight the day I started it, definitely recommended.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however enjoyed it so much that I also purchased it.

As is usually the case with a good book I’m always faced with the same dilemma. I don’t want to book the down but equally I get so immersed in the story and the lives of the characters portrayed that I don’t want it to end.
So, I managed to eek out The Wife’s Choice until this morning when I had to say goodbye to the characters I had got to know and love.
So many twists and turns in Emma’s latest book, if you haven’t ordered yours yet, what are you waiting for. You have the weekend ahead of you to sit, read and enjoy. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did 🥰xox

The characters are truly likeable, the plot holds interest. Each chapter ends on a cliffhanger so that we are encouraged to read on.
Looking forward to the next one. Thank you, Emma.
