Emmy's agent decides it would be a good look to star in the community Christmas pantomime, but who else could be playing her leading man but her ex-boyfriend who she may or may not have ditched to move to London a decade ago...

I liked the characters but I felt like there wasn't much discussion of the potential or actual motivation behind their actions, I also would have enjoyed some more in-depth observations of both the settings and characters. The story line was predictable and surface level and a bit cringe in parts, never delving into the depths of the feelings or experiences enough. There were also some things that were left unresolved that I wondered about after finishing the story. I felt it was pretty light on both romance and comedy. Overall a nice read, it kept me interested enough turning the pages but I was frustrated with things that were glossed over and I think there could have been so much more fullness to the story.

Once there she realises how much she has missed seeing her family in the flesh. There is also the childhood crush who she hankers for, in her head he is the one for her and there is a catalogue of errors which involve her being a wingman for one of her aunt’s on a date and the man she is with reminds her of someone…. Who could it be?
The book also addresses her blended family because her parents split up years ago and they both have more children and Emmy virtually feels like a stranger to her half siblings and there is more drama when she meets the next door neighbour who irritates her yet she feels drawn to him.
And there is more drama when it comes to Emmy staring in a pantomime in the old rundown theatre
Emmy has to decide where her heart lies and what she wants her future to look like…..
