Wim starts with a stories from his childhood and gives an account of his first couple of exposures to cold which almost killed him and completely changed his relationship with the cold.
The book then covers techniques to harness the 3 elements - Cold, Breathing and Mindset. Wim explains his breathing and meditation techniques. The book also has examples of how people have have healed themselves through very challenging health ailments by using the Wim Hof Method.
As an instructional manual, it is not great. Whilst there are useful instructions, some of it is in various places and things like breathing techniques are probably best seen from a video. Ideally someone should use the book and use maybe something like his free mini course, the Wim Hof App and other YouTube videos. The book makes reference to his courses as well which cover his methods in great detail and I know people who have taken those and highly recommend them.
For me, the book really triggered the inspiration and focus to explore and try out some of the techniques. As I write this review, we are in Autumn in the UK with Winter not too far, things like cold exposure are something is not very appealing. However, the book does make it compelling for me to then think about actively incorporating elements of this. Cold exposure is something that the likes of Ben Greenfield and Dave Asprey also actively evangelise so I think it makes sense to do this and there is lots of science to support this.
If you are looking to take your health and mindset to the next level then this is a useful book to explore to inspire and get you to try out the Wim Hof method. Combine it with the other resources Wim provides to help take on this way of thinking and practices to help have better control over the body and mind.

If you already do the breathing and cold water, which you can get free from the app of internet sources, you won’t learn anything from this.

There may well be an inspiring tale here and the method itself could be covered in a few pages. While the context adds depth to the reader's understanding it is delivered in such a meandering and hubristic fashion and is littered with non sequitirs and garbled nonsense claiming to be wisdom.

Highly recommended.
