All the thrills and spills of the Grand Prix are in this book! It contains all sorts of information and fun facts about motor racing including pit stops, overtaking and getting ready to race. Ideal for young speed demons. You can even race the two little cars on the tracks within the thick card pages. ― That's Life
About the Author
Sam Taplin grew up in a beautiful valley in Yorkshire, where he dreamed of being a writer, and after three years reading other people's books at university he started writing his own for Usborne. He's been doing it ever since. When he's not writing about lonely rabbits or inquisitive bears, he likes doing card tricks, writing songs and playing long games of chess by the fire.

Some of the reviews weren't encouraging, saying the vehicles didn't run properly in the tracks and as these were for a 5 & 3 year old I was a bit concerned they'd be disappointing, but I needn't have worried; the books are really substantial and made from strong board so it wasn't a problem keeping them level, even on someone's lap. The Farm version comes with lovely little press-out tress, scarecrows, cows , sheep, a farmer etc that you can stand up in the Farm version pages. You don't get any cut outs in this Racing car version as two cars are provided which can race each other on two tracks on the same page, but three different tracks for them to race on with three different accompanying stories.
Both grandsons were delighted with them and it kept them and their Grandfather and Uncle entertained for hours !
The little wind up cars and tractor aren't flimsy and stood up well to being tried on Uncle's decking which meant they could race all three at once in the routed lines - very pleasing; they were played with on and off all afternoon and reluctantly put away when it was time to go home.
Altogether very well made with really nice illustrations and not too difficult for 5 year old fingers to wind and position in the tracks, but the 3 year old needed a bit of help. Haven't tried it yet, but other small wind up vehicles might fit in the tracks too. I might buy the other books now as well !
Had a problem with delivery in that it didn't arrive, but contacted the seller who was more than helpful and sent a replacement immediately, then the original turned up, so I'm now waiting for the replacement to arrive! Problem is with the postal service, not the seller.
