5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Atlas from the Guru of Coffee
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 February 2022
This is a tasty tome from 2007 World Barista Champion James Hoffmann, surely the most charming coffee guru on the planet.

First published in 2014 and now in its second edition, "jimseven" takes you on a journey through coffee "from beans to brewing", exploring, explaining and enjoying every aspect of coffee.

The hardback edition has a tactile, hessian style cover like a sack of coffee beans - a cute touch and boasts 271 pages packed with information and richly illustrated with beautiful photographs.

There are three main sections:
- Part One is an introduction to coffee covering varieties, harvesting, processing, how it is traded and a short history of coffee drinking.
- Part 2 "From Bean To Cup" covers roasting, buying and storing coffee, tasting and describing coffee, grinding, water for brewing, brewing basics, espresso and home roasting.
- Part 3 looks at coffee origins in a number of countries in Africa, Asia and The Americas.

Excellent coffee is important to me. If it's also important to you, just go right ahead and but this book. I bought it as a holiday read, not a reference manual. Hoffmann delivers. You won't be disappointed.
