If you want the game the instant it is available, then a digital pre-load is the way to go, otherwise this is a great option
Many fallout fans were very dissapointed with this game, almost completely because of the lack of NPCs. I agree that it feels a bit lazy. You have to embrace that you are literally the only survivor, which is cool if you're a roleplay junkie (until you run into a level 170 random in multiplayer).
I honestly got my moneys worth, I played this for over 100 hours and will probably try it again. there have been many updates and patches.
Would recommend buying this game for $10-$20. I personally will not be buying and DLCs.
A great world to explore with many many gems. End game takes ages to get to.
If you are seeking online, first shooter shooter fun for you and your squad, move along.. this is not your game.
I am enjoying playing this on an older mid-range (i5-2500K CPU) and low end video card (Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB version) at 1920 x 1080 resolution, with settings on ULTRA. Most of the time framerate is around 60, but has dropped to high 30s when there were almost a dozen other monsters and players in a massive battle.
This game has no NPC's. This is an empty world. Everybody is dead Jim. All I'm doing is killing poor defenceless mutants who just want to live their horrible doomed existence in peace, and why? There's nobody else around for them to bother? I'm pretty sure this makes me the bad guy. Full on "I am Legend" territory.
I'm a PC gamer. I honestly wasn't expecting this to be any less annoying than in Fallout 3/New Vegas/4 but at least they had enough other goodies to make me ignore it. I have a mouse and I can search for stuff! I don't need to put up with this shit. Just another nail in the coffin (that I had to scroll through 4 f'ing tabs and 200 f'ing items to find.)
Base Building. Base building is totally my jam. I loved being able to do it in Fallout 4 even though it was like pulling teeth (and replacing them, hovering slightly above the gum, at a different angle.)
How the hell did this somehow end up worse?
Not that it matters I guess, you can build the most perfect, palatial base but if you're just sharing it with ghouls who want to eat your face it's probably wasted.
No Steam integration. I get it, you hate giving money to 3rd parties, but I'm a lazy user. I want all my games in one place where I don't need to think about them. I don't want to sign up for a different service.
This game arrived in a typical DVD case that contained nothing except a digital download key. Was it really necessary to ship me the case?
Speaking of which, 40GB download? Are you f'ing kidding me?
I've played this game for around 4 hours. Unless there are some major changes (or one of my friends ignores my review and actually buys this crap), I won't be playing it again. I don't care about the money, but I do want my disk space back.
-Play game in windowed mode, game crashes makes system crash.
-Try to add friends and play with them in social mode... it worked once, and now it's erased any trace of me having friends on fallout, and I can't add them or they me anymore at all.
-Random server outages make it so you might pickup items and have them disappear randomly, along with some of your progress vanishing when the server goes offline
-Coin costs for things such as moving your base (16 coins it says) actually differ when playing, so actual caps taken are 66 caps.
-How do I add friends anymore? Now that I've added friends and had them disappear I no longer can play this game with anyone I know, nor can they. They have made a game where you can NOT play multiplayer with friends. How is this not still an alpha or beta!?
-Games which are purposefully, laughably broken such as goat simulator was in the early days, are more reliable and usable than this game is.
-Game will crash system and lose your character at some points
...I could go on. but right now I'm just infuriated it's taken over a day of me and lots of friends fiddling but it is literally currently impossible to play with friends! What a piece of junk. I WISH this was through steam or some reputable company to get a refund right NOW.
Yes there are a few bugs in the game but I was playing all weekend (mostly solo) and really enjoyed it.
Thumbs up from me :)
