I buy these extra replacement filters when on sale, you can save $20 to $30.00 per filter, closer to the appropriate price for some bits of paper! Colours from Blue: good Blue to violet: fair red to purple: unhealthy red: very unhealthy

Yes. Made in China. But if I could add, it's one of the best investments we have made. We've got 2 of these units and 1 of the 6000 series. Hands down worth it. We also have a dyson purifier and it's just a heavily overpriced fan when compared to this.
