Ho, Ho, Ho, it's almost time for Christmas!
I love Christmas, particularly when I can help you to make it magical for everyone! Get the family into the holiday spirit with my Christmas Countdown; My extra special list of experiences that will help to keep the whole family entertained and make the preparation for you easy as.
To get started, just ask, “Alexa, how many days until Christmas?” for the official countdown!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
One of the jolliest parts of Christmas has to be the delicious food, sweets and treats that are shared with your loved ones. If you’re looking for some inspiration for your menu of festive treats this year, just say “Alexa, show me Christmas recipes” and I’ll share some family favourites.
Or if you know which Chrissy faves you’re looking for, my new and improved recipe experience, with over 50,000 recipes from Taste can help you out:
“Alexa, get me a recipe for pavlova”
“Alexa, find me rocky road recipes”
“Alexa, how do I cook a roast turkey?”
“Alexa, find me a cranberry sauce recipe”
Now that you’ve planned what’s on the Christmas menu, it’s time to get your shopping list together. Or better yet, I can get that done for you! Just tell me what you need and I’ll add it to your Shopping List within your Alexa app. Try saying, “Alexa, add egg nog, whipped cream and a turkey to my shopping list.”
If you’re keen to get everyone into the Christmas spirit early, I’ve got a few tricks in my stocking. For a tummy tickler, try saying, “Alexa, tell me a Christmas joke” and prepare to laugh! Or if it’s tunes you’re after, just say, “Alexa, play Christmas music” to listen to some Christmas classics.
Santa Claus is coming to town
Christmas Eve can be hectic. From last minute prezzie wrapping, to getting excited kids to bed before Santa arrives, all things merry can start to feel a little bit hectic!
Keep the little ones entertained while you prepare by saying, ”Alexa, where’s Santa?“ * and let them track where he and Rudolph are in the world using the NORAD Tracks Santa skill. Or if they want to hear from Santa himself, they can say, “Alexa, call Santa”*, or even, ”Alexa, give me a Christmas cracker” * for some superb Christmas Eve fun from Santa and I.
*Please note: These skills require parental consent through Kids Skill Toggle in the Alexa app.. To do this, open the app, go to try More > Settings > Account Settings > Kid Skills and press the Allow Kid Skills toggle.
If you’re looking for a fun way to keep the kids in bed until Christmas morning, just say, “Alexa, wake me up to Jingle Bells at 7am” and let them know that Christmas only starts when they hear the magic music. The elves said so, of course!
Last but not least, Christmas Eve wouldn’t be complete without some R&R for you before the chaotic fun begins. If you’ve decorated your tree with some smart fairy lights, scan or click the QR code below to access my Christmas routine and say, “Alexa, light up the tree“ (possibly with a hot toddy?) to relax and unwind to a holiday favourite.
