I was super excited to try this embossing set with my Cricut Maker. The idea is genius, but the execution is messy and disappointing. The powder that's on the metallic film will come off on your hands, or anything else that rubs it too hard. The tape does not reposition easily, and damages the metallic powder film even from the top side when you try to remove it. The foiled image will leave powder on your fingers when you first touch it. The three tool widths are very close in size; I was expecting a wider variety of lines. I did try using the tips without the foil, and at least they make a modest debossing. After my disappointment with this kit, I went ahead and bought the heat foil embossing set by We Are Memory Keepers, and I love that one!
Not very impressed. Even if everything goes well, you get foil residue on your fingers when you lightly swipe across it. I'm not a fan of anything that generates particulate dust or residue. You can't use it for a card because the person you are giving it to will likely touch it and get upset with the finger residue... think very very fine glitter... no one likes to have that mess on their hands, clothes, food, etc. Seems like it should be only be used for something you would put in a frame that would prevent you and other people from touching it directly. When it works, it does look cool.
That being said, it is easy to mess up. The sheets are so lightweight and thin that it is difficult to tape down. When pulling the tape from the sheet, it generates a static charge that attracts the foil sheet which messes up the placement and makes it difficult to tape down flat without wrinkles. If it doesn't lay down flat, smoothly and evenly, you end up with uneven foil transfer or even missing areas, plus more foil dust due to the foil sheets getting crinkled by the transfer tool. The tape itself is also too strong... you have to pull it off carefully or you could rip any base paper or cardstock material.
They need to make the foil sheets thicker so they don't get crinkled so easily. Make the tape less tacky. Make the foil transfer material less prone to turning into particulate dust. As it stands now, I cannot recommend this product.
