It's rare to read a true story like this one - told with such searing honesty. It's a nightmare - in truth - but Jimmy's inner voice keeps us grounded - in some senses - he knows when he has overstepped the mark - even when circumstances make it nigh on impossible for him to step off the run-of-madness. And by the time we reach the end of this book Jimmy is on his way to fame as the lead singer for Cold Chisel - and there are redemptive sketches of family and friends who played significantly positive roles in his life. An important book for anyone who grew up in a dysfunctional family - who needs to know that mistakes made can be stoned for - that what happens in childhood need NOT predict or define the adult! In some ways this work is Jimmy's PhD thesis! Congratulations!
