Two words sum this novel up "Tragedy Porn". Sorry, but it's true. You can also think of it as a melodrama or a soap opera.

The characters are cartoonish. The relationships are unbelievable. And the misery is piled up so high on the poor Jude, arguably the main character of this novel, you stop caring, you sort of become immune to it.

Even the editing suffers, as the novel could have easily lost 200 pages, as there's a lot of repetition.

A Little Life is one of the most manipulating novels I have ever read. And I detest that.

Definitely, one of the biggest disappointments of 2015.
