I very much liked the style of the author's writing which made for very clear and authentic pictures of the scenes she was writing about. She wrote an account of teenagers in some turmoil about their lives and how they should or could fit into society, in a very sensitive way. She touches on family violence and female sexual abuse, peer pressure and bullying, poor self esteem and changing self image. The main theme of the novel is a very poignant love story between two people from differing social backgrounds. I enjoyed reading this book very much.
