"A backstage pass to the wildest and loudest party in rock history—you'll feel like you were right there with us!" —Bret Michaels of Poison
Nothin' But a Good Time is the definitive, no-holds-barred oral history of 1980s hard rock and hair metal, told by the musicians and industry insiders who lived it.
Hard rock in the 1980s was a hedonistic and often intensely creative wellspring of escapism that perfectly encapsulated—and maybe even helped to define—a spectacularly over-the-top decade. Indeed, fist-pumping hits like Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” Mötley Crüe’s “Girls, Girls, Girls,” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” are as inextricably linked to the era as Reaganomics, PAC-MAN, and E.T.
From the do-or-die early days of self-financed recordings and D.I.Y. concert productions that were as flashy as they were foolhardy, to the multi-Platinum, MTV-powered glory years of stadium-shaking anthems and chart-topping power ballads, to the ultimate crash when grunge bands like Nirvana forever altered the entire climate of the business, Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock's Nothin' But a Good Time captures the energy and excess of the hair metal years in the words of the musicians, managers, producers, engineers, label executives, publicists, stylists, costume designers, photographers, journalists, magazine publishers, video directors, club bookers, roadies, groupies, and hangers-on who lived it.
Featuring an impassioned foreword by Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist and avowed glam metal fanatic Corey Taylor, and drawn from over two hundred author interviews with members of Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Poison, Guns N’ Roses, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Winger, Warrant, Cinderella, Quiet Riot and others, as well as Ozzy Osbourne, Lita Ford, and many more, this is the ultimate, uncensored, and often unhinged, chronicle of a time where excess and success walked hand in hand, told by the men and women who created a sound and style that came to define a musical era—one in which the bands and their fans went looking for nothin’ but a good time…and found it.
This ultimate illustrated history of Aerosmith—one of the greatest rock ’n’ roll bands of all time and the best-selling American hard rock band of all time—is now revised and updated to celebrate the group’s 50th anniversary as well as their multi-year farewell concert tour.
This massive, visually exhilarating celebration in hardcover provides a front-row seat to the Boston Bad Boys’ entire career: scrapping their way cross-country in the 1970s, scrapping their way back to the top of the heap in the late 1980s, and scrapping with each other the entire way. Updated with 16 additional pages of text and photographs, this complete history of one of the world's most successful and popular bands features:
- A lively and honest band history by music journalist Richard Bienstock
- Sidebar album reviews from a host of well-known music journalists, including Greg Kot, Jaan Uhelszki, Chuck Eddy, Bill Holdship, Martin Popoff, Daniel Bukszpan, and more

- An Aerosmith discography encompassing all official audio and video releases
Aerosmith: The Ultimate Illustrated 50 Year History of the Boston Bad Boys is an awesome, must-have add to the library of every Aerosmith fan.
Kurt Cobain, legendary lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of Nirvana, “the flagship band of Generation X,” remains an object of reverence and fascination for music fans. For the first time, his story was told in the fully authorized feature documentary, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, in 2015. Brett Morgen—the Oscar®-nominated filmmaker behind such acclaimed documentaries as the HBO presentation Crossfire Hurricane, which celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the Rolling Stones, and The Kid Stays in the Picture—was writer, director, and producer of film. Visual artist Frances Bean Cobain, Cobain’s daughter, was executive producer.
This riveting book accompanied Morgen’s documentary and delved further into the material created for the film, presenting an illuminating and honest portrait of the Nirvana frontman that captured the contradictions that made up his character. The book is composed of the extended versions of the exclusive interviews featured in the film. It also showcases the film’s incredible visuals with a mixture of animation stills, rare photography, and other treasures from Kurt Cobain’s personal archive. Director Brett Morgen offers his personal thoughts on the creation of the film and the need to shatter the mythos that surrounds Cobain. Taking fans into and beyond Morgen’s movie with unparalleled insight into the world of the late musician, this book is the perfect complement to a milestone documentary that forever changed the way fans view Kurt Cobain.
“The film offers the bells and whistles but the book provides the real guts of the tale.” —Examiner

Aerosmith is one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all-time. After their 1970s success was derailed by band strife and Dionysian excess, Boston's Bad Boys received a career jump-start in 1986 via their collaboration with hip-hop legends Run-DMC and producer Rick Rubin. This first complete illustrated history of one of the world's most successful and popular bands features a band history by music journalist Richard Bienstock and sidebar album reviews from a host of well-known music journalists, including Greg Kot, Jaan Uhelszki, Chuck Eddy, Bill Holdship, Martin Popoff, Daniel Bukszpan, and more. Illustrated throughout with hundreds of stunning performance and backstage photographs, as well as rare memorabilia, including gig posters, backstage passes, 7-inch picture sleeves, ticket stubs, and more.
El heavy metal de los años 80 fue una fuente de escapismo hedonista que encarnó y marcó una década espectacularmente exagerada. Éxitos como «We’re Not Gonna Take It» de Twisted Sister, «Girls, Girls, Girls» de Mötley Crüe y «Welcome to the Jungle» de Guns N’ Roses están tan vinculados a esos años como el PAC-MAN y E.T.
