5.0 out of 5 starsEssential Reading for Humans
Reviewed in Australia on 22 December 2019
I have been following Professor Sinclair since his research into the longevity of Yeast. At the end of 2017, his attitude changed during a podcast. I said to myself 'he is confident that science has cracked ageing'.
Having followed Dr Sinclair's research literally for the last seven months, I can attest that my health and fitness have improved dramatically in that time, and I was a professional athlete who has kept reasonably fit for 67 years old.
Upon reading the research that Dr Sinclair and his colleagues throughout the world have completed, you will understand how simple the ageing process is, yet extremely complicated to research. Most great breakthroughs follow the same guidelines.
Enjoy the read and change your life.

Interesting and thought provoking. A number of the molecules are still to go to large scale trials but very promising. Some of the non scientific views you either agree or disagree but the science looks very interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the most important book of the 21st Century

Aging is the largest risk factor for mortality from the major diseases that we suffer from:

Cancer, Alzheimer's, heart disease, and even COVID-19, are all diseases of which aging plays a fundamental role. As a leader in his field of research, David Sinclair articulates why targeting *biological* aging as a 'disease' should be a priority for medicine in the context of an aging population.

Crucially, aging does not just affect the 'elderly'. So many genetic and environmental factors lead to accelerated aging, including depression, stress, chemotherapy, HIV/AIDS, down syndrome, diabetes etc.; aging affects all of us and occurs at a cellular level throughout life...

If COVID-19 didn't make it obvious enough, it is about time we did something about biological aging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anti aging advice from an expert

If you're looking for ways to reduce aging following the advice of a trusted expert and want to use the strategies he has adopted for himself and his family then read this book. Following the insights I have gained I have started a protocol of NMN and Resveratrol to support my already established intermittent fasting, cold showers and exercise programme. I have been using the supplements for 6 weeks and so has my husband. Do I look and feel any different? Well I have to be honest, not yet although I certainly don't feel any worse. I do believe this is a long term approach and wasn't expecting overnight miracles. Sinclair's elderly father took 6 months to admit that he was really starting to feel different, younger and stronger than his peers. Do yourself a favour and get this book, it just might change your life and of course if you do nothing you definitely will age and who wants to?

I learnt so much from this book and I have given it to several people for Christmas - all those ones who thought because of their age they are coming t the end of the line. David tells us that thinking is way old fashioned. Thank you

A book in simple enough terms for a layperson to follow that explains exactly what we know about aging and how we can slow, stop or even reverse it now.

Aging - as cellular damage is also the mechanism behind many "big name" problems like cancer, heart disease, loss of skin plasticity etc. Stopping aging also discourages these conditions for developing in the first place. Interesting read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative and thought provoking

The book reframes aging as a process/disease that can be accelerated or reversed. It provides hope and practical advice on how to slow aging down. It tries to balance in-depth biological and genetic research information and accommodate non-scientific readers like me. Using analogies, like comparing the epigenome to creating music with a piano, help me see the forest from the trees, but sometimes it is hard going. Cross-checking the information increased my confidence in its validity. If nothing else, it is informative about the current scientific understanding of genetics. All up, a good read.
