You don't need to be a Foo Fighters Fan to love this book. It is a very insightful read from a Mothers perspective and how their lives have changed or are affected when their child/ren become famous. Each chapter is an interview with a mum of a famous musician and the trials and tribulations they have encountered along the way. Between each of these chapters there is a tale from Virginia Grohl herself. It is in no way narcissistic, in fact it seems rather humble and a bit of a passion project of hers. It was a great read and a real eye opener. I didn't necessarily know who all the musicians were whose Mum's were featured int he book but it was still a great read.
I love all things "Foo" so I was very happy to learn Dave's mum had wrote a book about the mothers of musicians. I pre-ordered it, so the wait was lengthy especially when my American friends got their copy earlier than this side of the world. Also, the US version has a colour cover. Anyway, I ended up taking it away on holiday with me & began reading it & read it cover to cover in a couple of days. It's very insightful, funny & sad too. Ended up buying on Audible too as Dave & Virginia read the book - bonus!
Abdolutely live this. For all those who dont conform and dare to step off the line and find their own path, there's a Mother's boundless love to support and nurture. This is a strength the world should value so much more. Embrace the differences. I am forever thankful we are not all sheep!
I just became intrigued by thing I was hearing in interviews about the book, so acquired myself a copy. People are always interested in rock history but never concentrate much on band TRUE origins, mum. Some of the back stories are horrific but give you some empathy for an artist you may have had little time for. Some parts brought me to tears but pride seems to be the reason for the book and the reason some of these women are still alive. Ready it in one sitting. As with my title, shut up and read it!
A very well written book give your mum a big kiss and cuddle Dave having worked for some in the book over the years interesting and funny parts what else can I say Everyone should buy the book Hats of to the mums
