I bought and read her first book and I couldn’t put it down it was so captivating that I bought her second book! Bobbie Brown knows how to keep everyone completely engaged with her honesty and sincere personality that shines through in every book she writes and all she does in her life. Her books are relatable to many women so I highly recommend Cherry On Top!!
This booklet would be fine if you have the mentality of a five-year-old boy. Plenty of toilet humor, profanity and vulgar language, with a main theme of the writer’s fixation on her much younger self - because that’s all she has. The conflict of her gross insecurity vs total physical self absorption isn’t an interesting read. She’s not a good person. She’s not a good mother. She delights in sharing a nasty, ugly and hateful letter her daughter wrote as a child to one of her boyfriends, like it was something to be proud of. Like it was her own legacy. This is just a very hollow attempt to make money by mentioning a few names from the 80s and semi-graphic details. She still doesn’t realize that beauty is only skin deep, even though it long-ago faded. Sorry.
Picks up where her previous book, Dirty Rocker Boys, left off, but it's a stand-alone. Very easy read, very entertaining. I couldn't put it down and finished it in a few hours. I found myself laughing hysterically one minute and crying the next, especially when she talks about her dad. She holds nothing back, and I appreciate that from the girl who was such a fixture of my youth -- in my Teen magazines, all over tv -- You couldn't get away from her back then. After reading how things were really like in her world, and even now the bull#$@% she gets for having the audacity to age (fabulously), I am REALLY rooting for this girl! 4 stars for being too short-- I know she has more stories to tell!
So I read her first book! This was was so funny!!! lol true on telling it like it is. I was the girl who attended the 80’s hair bands and backstage etc .... Now older this book is a must must read! DEFINITELY not disappointed lol 😂 I’m reading it a second time
The shipping and packaging were great, but the book itself was not as fun, fully-realized, or revealing as her first. I felt like she either left a lot of her life out (like whether she is completely clean, and how she managed it if she is) because it wasn’t as funny as she thought her stand-up would be, or that she was trying to sell a version of herself that would get people to either listen to the podcast or buy tickets to her shows. I don’t knock her for that, but I missed the “realness“ of her first book.
It’s like hearing from on old friend again. I love the way she writes. I love her stories. As a 47 yr old growing up OC, she sounds like one of us. She struggles with dating dirt bags and finding happiness in her career. It’s a fun read.
