Jean Seifert
4.0 out of 5 starsThe Missions
Reviewed in Australia on 13 October 2018
Another action packed story divided into seven missions to collect the pieces of gold capstone for the great pyramid of Giza, as foretold in hieroglyphic inscription, at a set time and place in alignment with the sun.
As always about power – Europe v American and the Church v Freemasons and West for the Australians! GO AUSSIES!
This man has an amazing imagination along with lots of research on the latest array of mean machines and ancient civilizations making his stories exciting, yet with the sensitivity of friendship and loyalty to his fellow comrades.
West is charged with raising ‘Lily the oracle’ while locating pieces of capstone and lastly performing a ritual.
Quote ‘Cower in fear, cry in despair wretched mortals’ describes this tale well. I marvelled at the enormous achievements of past civilisations that built the wonders of the past, doesn’t say much for we idiots who live today and cannot even build a house properly let along a gothic church.

1.0 out of 5 starsIs this supposed to be a comedy?
Reviewed in Australia on 1 March 2019
Not sure what this book was meant to be - I am an avid reader of fantasy books but for me the fantasy has to be convincing, magical and believable all at once. This book was none of those things.... I love make believe, but truly this story was so ridiculous it made me wonder if it was meant to be comedic. It didn't make me laugh though. It seems a lame attempt to copy the Indiana Jones stories and I am sorry but it left me cold and I have no desire to read any more of these novels - life is too short to waste my time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was unsure about this novel as I am a fan of his previous hero Scarecrow.

I have to admit to really enjoying Matthew Reilly's novels and I quickly became a big fan of the hero Scarecrow , so I was unsure about getting into a new hero, Jack West JR, but as usual his writing had me hooked from the very first pages of this book, I found the writing fast paced, and also very educational and now I am going to get the second novel in this series, maybe I am biased, because I love his writing style but this novel comes highly recommended and I can't wait to start the next one. Thank you Matthew Reilly for your books that keep me awake as I can't put them down :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book Series

The first of the Jack West Jr series introduces us to Jack and his team in their quests to save the earth again, and again, and again. Once you start listening (or reading the book) you can't stop. Lots of cliff hangers in the story. Very enjoyable, but not recommended for kids due to the swearing.

I loved this book the first time I read it, and I just loved it again. So exciting, and so vividly descriptive. Not sure if I'd actually like the characters if I actually met them, but they're great friends to read about. I'm re-redoing the 7,6,5 books in preparations for the 4 coming out (Finally!!) later this year.

I am a true fan of Matthew Riley’s novels. I have hard copies of each of them. The 7 Ancient Wonders is an intriguing fictional novel that starts the reader on a countdown. You need to continue reading the Jack West series - it is different to Scarecrow(which by the way I enjoy immensely).

5.0 out of 5 stars First in series

This book reads as more of a self-contained novel by itself.
In typical Matthew Reilly fashion, it starts off fast and aggressive, with important character moments left and right.
It is a good hook into the series.

Really great writer I always enjoy picking up one of his books. Jack West Jr is like a mix of Indiana Jones and James Bond nothing can stop him.
