How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

1.0 out of 5 stars ich bin etwas enttäuscht

Ich fand die Serie Seinfeld phantastisch. Daher erwartete ich, dass "Curb Your Enthusiasm" evtl. genauso lustig ist, doch ich finde, dem ist nicht so. Zumindest trifft "Curb your Enthusiasm" nicht meinen Humor. Mit dem Humor von Seinfeld hat es nichts mehr zu tun, finde ich. Es ist völlig anders als Seinfeld. Schade, dass es von Seinfeld nicht mehr Staffeln gibt.

1.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Curb Your Enthusiasm

The Curb Your Enthusiasm Series 1 has a high rating but I simply cannot find anything hugely entertaining or funny about it. Both the acting and the different vignettes seem very mediocre, dull and uninspiring. Genius lies in telling compelling stories and if combined with great wit and humor, you can create something magical. I cannot see how this series lives up to this at all or deserves a nearly 5 star rating

1.0 out of 5 stars plastic and unfunny

Sorry, but I bought this on the basis of the other reviews and I really can't see what they see in it.
The script is really plastic, the acting stiled, the filming is reminiscent of poor quality home movies.
And as far as I am concerned, this is just so unfunny it is tedious!

Was really looking forward to watching this dvd unfortunately picture keeps going dark so you can not see what is happening on screen, very poor picture quality, ruined viewing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really Disappointed

I bought this having read so many wonderful reviews, both here on Amazon and elsewhere, and I have to say I am hugely disappointed. Biggest problem: it's just not funny. Second problem: the improv nature of the situations (which I've nothing against in principle) means that the dialogue is far from snappy or punchy - as one has come to expect from US TV comedy. One is expected to find the situations themselves just inherently funny. Finally, the characterization (ironically perhaps because they are all actually real people) is paper thin - on top of which Larry David himself just seems inordinately pleased with himself throughout.
My advice is to be a bit sceptical about this, if you were thinking about buying it on the back of reviews. Definitely try to see an episode first to see if the humour works for you, as it has clearly worked for others. It left me utterly unmoved.
