This DVD features the complete season one of BBC's lovely comedy series about a bored, imaginative housewife with an emotionally distant (yet trying) husband and two anarchist sons. Although this probably doesn't sound like much nowadays, its wonderful writing and mixture of romance, drama, wit and humour make it worth watching.
The DVD itself consists of two discs with all 6 episodes of the first season, an "exclusive interview with writer Carla Lane, production notes and filmography". The video quality is okay (4:3), the sound is good enough. I would like to mention that none of my PC DVD-drives were able to even detect either one of these DVD-discs (I can only assume this is due to some sort of strange copy protection), but my standalone DVD player played it just fine.
For someone who didn't fall in love with this show (like I did), this DVD is clearly overprized (due to the almost non-existant extras, the plain cover, the picture quality, only 6 episodes, et cetera, et cetera), but I sure didn't regret buying it. 10 out of 10 stars for the show, 6 out of 10 for the technical stuff.
