Another DVD sederies of the Two Ronnies - gosh, are the BBC taking their time releasing these classics!
I think here, the format was really starting to come together. This is the funniest series yet, with the sketches getting sharper and funnier. Halarious renditions of swan lake mickey takes and Charley and Farley and the notorious Madame Cocot. (Or however it's spelt) investigating the effects of a drug which makes people incredibly clumsy. Cue Barker and Corbett also playing villan roles, as well as shoe shiners.
Some bits are dated now(particulary the guest acts)but this duo were whipping up a storm by now going on for another eight series' and leaving us breathless with laughter week after week.
As explained before, this really is the best series yet, with Barker's brilliant word play - and absolutely brilliant sketches - the "Spokesman" one is just spot on - and of course, Corbett's armchair monologues, wandering off the point, then back again, but keeping us laughing all the time.
The magic here, was Barker's brilliance with manipulating the english language - no one has done it better - and Corbett, whose rambling monologues included a joke in its midst which was often pretty corny, the roundabout route he went in telling the joke was often funnier than the actual original pun itself. Both styles have been endlessly copied since by many comedians, but in my opinion NEVER bettered.
My only gripe is with the BBC and why are they making us wait so long to experience the rest of this magnificent comedy series! Come on, BBC - get the rest of them out on DVD - don't make us wait until 2013!
