How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsAnother terrific Reilly read.
Reviewed in Australia on 19 June 2016
Not surprisingly, with Reilly at the helm, this was a cracking good read.
Tons of action, some great lateral thinking by Scarecrow against a very unexpected foe.
I now remember why I re-read a Matthew Reilly book when I need something unusual with the tension and suspense ratcheted up to extreme levels.
Better than a gym visit for a cardio workout and much more satisfying.
I'm off to re-read Seven Ancient Wonders. I need more exercise!

Really not very good. Fast paced but quite unbelievable.
A holiday read at best. Don't recommend at all. Sorry Mr Reilly

1.0 out of 5 stars So bad it's almost good.

I have read a number of Matthew Reilly's novels, and to be honest, after 'Ice Station', which I really enjoyed, they all went downhill, fast, very very fast, especially those that did not follow the exploits of 'the Scarecrow'.

I purchased this for my Kindle in the hope that the author would be back to his previous better form, alas I was sorely mistaken.

Unfortunately this novella doesn't buck the downward trend. The plot, and I use the term loosely, is paper thin and frankly, ridiculous. It's a mystery to me how this got past the publishers front door, all the usual suspects are present, rival special forces teams, a mysteriously abandoned warship (a Nimitz class carrier for goodness sake!), a secret island with a WW2 Japanese base that the hero, Scarecrow, happens to know about because his grandfather helped capture it, a classified government experiment, shady scientists, equally shady military men, and to top all of this, specially trained, cloned gorillas under micro-chip control, with guns.

The good points are:
1) It's cheap.
2) It only takes around an hour to read it through.

The downside is, you'll never get those 60 odd minutes back.

It is quite weird, in that once you start reading, it is very compulsive, even thought you know this is a bad book, it's sort of like that quick junk-food fix that you crave every so often, but leaves you feeling guilty after.

Unless you are a die hard Reilly / Scarecrow fan - avoid.

I don't know if this was written for adults or intended for children / young adults either way, it is a very poor effort.

I didn't realize that novels selling for this price even came this short. Weird.

1.0 out of 5 stars Short

This is not a review of the content of the story, but, instead, on its brevity. Nowhere in the Amazon description is it mentioned that this is a long short story. Large type with 10 lines fewer per page that other paperbacks, 29 pages of pictures, diagrams or just blank. The whole "book" starts out as 123 numbered pages but actually is about 50-60 real pages of normal sized text. This is gross misrepresentation. Elsewhere, other websites, it is honestly described as a "novella." If you want to order a "novella" for the same price as a 500 page book, fine, but you should say be warned.

I have really enjoyed all of your books, but this time I was expecting a book and instead I recieved a small unimpressive little leaflet! Very, very disapointing to say the least.Better luck next time, hopefully.
