How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Interesting parallels to Christian Porters situation vis a vis the ABC and its intrepid reporter Louise Milligan

This was a film of the 1980's we missed for various reasons. Am glad we obtained DVD and have watched an entertaining film. The only down-side was the romance involvement but this was how lots of films were made back then. However, this is a personal choice & the film was enjoyable, The way the tables were turned by the innocent victim onto the corrupt justice department was worth waiting for & reminded this watcher to some extent of the later film 'The Sting' (also Paul Newman). I will not go through the film chapter & verse (other reviews have done this if you want to know details of the plot before watching) but repeat that this viewer is glad to have seen the film.

Not without its faults. For example, it's difficult to believe the Paul Newman character ever liking -- much less having an affair with -- the grasping, shallow hack reporter which Sally Field plays. Excellent performances by Newman and Field, by the way.

A good antidote to the hero-worshipping of press reporters which was portrayed in 'All the President's Men'. To be fair, Woodward and Bernstein were excellent reporters but perhaps they might have not achieved such greatness without the strict guiding hand of Ben Bradlee.

A great transfer of a fascinating film with an excellent performance from Newman and an idiosyncratic on from Sally Field. Recommended!

An unusual film, well acted and directed. The tensions created and the situations the characters find them selves in are true to life and very emotional and moving.

Great movie about what seems to be innocent initially but like real life may lead to disasters. So be careful getting involved without knowing possible consequences and assumptions.
