Top critical review
An indifferent experience ....

I bought this mower primarily because of the many favourable reviews. Unfortunately my experience has been rather disappointing. In principle the mower does function, but there are three shortcomings for me.
The first is the height of cut - I know the cutting depth is clearly advertised but it is insufficient to cut Sir Walter Buffalo in our small yard.
The second and related issue is the difficulty in maintaining the height adjustment - when I push hard enough to cut the buffalo, the black plastic brackets (see the first photo) bend and distort - the brackets need to be made from a stronger material and I tighten them with a proper nut not the supplied wingnut.
The third problem is the poor design of the catcher attachment - it does not take very much of a bump for it to dislodge and fall off.
I have overcome the cutting height limitation by removing the small rear roller and installing a 1/2" axle and 150mm wheels from Bunnings (see second photo) - a $25 modification. I have demonstrated that this raises the height sufficiently to cut established buffalo lawn, however the mower still "stalls" (with the grass locking the cutting drum) when it pushed over our new buffalo that is only about 6 months old. Perhaps the ground is still too soft, but it just won't work even with the greater cutting height. I am hoping when my grass matures, the mower will function properly on it.
