The parts in between the meat of the story are boring, long winded, and VERY poorly written; the author somehow seems to have no voice. The editing is atrocious — as in, sometimes pronouns and verbs like is/are don’t agree, which is painful to read.

I know I’ll like the movie better, and I won’t read another book by this author.

I’m a retired investment banker, and I know no book is more dull than a business history, which, essentially, this is. Aldo Gucci was clearly both a visionary and shrewd businessman, but the financing , leveraging and other business machinations of the family after his reign is not what I signed up for. The actual murder of Mauricio gets very short short shrift. After his murder, the book is basically over . Only the author doesn’t know.

I do love books about the fashion world and about the building of a brand. This book also has a lot family drama and of course, murder. Unfortunately, the book is so long winded and full of minute too many minute details that I found it incredibly boring. Maybe someone who likes the details of every aspect of the operations and creations of Gucci will find this interesting but, for me it was just meh

The book is confusing sometimes. The history lesson introduced a lot of very interesting people, it was hard to keep up with who was who. The mention of Tom Ford was great. The murder was written as a historical fact. I wish it had a bit more drama instead of being so "this is what happened" . Over all I enjoyed the book.
