A really good read. Not a long book, so would be good for reading in bed too. I really enjoyed the outcome. I confess to almost having the outcome figured out but got the wrong person.

3.0 out of 5 starsA reasonable read.
Reviewed in Australia on 30 May 2020
This book I found to be a reasonable read but it did not grab my attention and refuse to let go. The plot line of young hopefuls disappearing from a dance academy, to be lured to the bright lights, provided a quite solid foundation. What was disappointing was the characterization that was rather undeveloped. An exploration of motive would have been helpful. I hope the others I'd previously purchased (on the basis of my reading of "Bring Them Home", and they were inexpensive at the time) improve in the above mentioned departments.

Dreadful writing - I don't think I have ever read such a badly written book. Cliche, dull, terrible plot and as for the characters - well . . .

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, predictable and poorly edited

This story suffers from terrible editing, and is riddled with typos and grammatical errors. I'd figured out who the bad guy was by about half-way through. Stereotypical, one-dimensional characters engage in stilted dialogue as the story plods to its inevitable conclusion. I was desperately hoping for a plot twist but was sorely disappointed. Don't waste your time!

This was too short for me. It was just getting going when the two detectives solved it and it ended leaving a few lose ends. I have enjoyed all her other books under the other names but will not be trying any more under "D. S. Butler".

Very amateur plot device. Obvious who was the culprit from halfway through. Don't give up the day job please.

1.0 out of 5 stars Predictable, no twists, no excitement

I found this story predictable and boring, there seemed to be no detective work happening at all and they just stumbled across the evidence of the only suspect. Character building also was very weak.

1.0 out of 5 stars A let down

Disappointed. The story builds up, a potential suspect is arrested then suddenly they find the real suspect and arrest him. No build up at all, just when you think it will get interesting it’s all over!

1.0 out of 5 stars like an A level project more than a novel

Seriously awful, every cliche of detective fiction is thrown in willy nilly and characterization is zero, like an A level project more than a novel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Turgid prose and wooden characters

This was probably the worst-written of the fifty or so books I've read so far this year. The writing is stilted, the characters don't have any (character), and i actually stopped reading it half-way through because it was such a slog to read.
