4.0 out of 5 starsAnother great installation in this series
Reviewed in Australia on 13 March 2020
This is number 13 in the Pendergast series and another nail biter. Corrie Swanson one of Pendergast's associates is wanting to do forensic research as part of her studies at John Jay. She finds herself heading off to a mountainous former mining town called Roaring Fork now winter solace for the Hollywood wealthy wanting to get away and ski. The draw card for Corrie is researching a local legend that several miners had been killed and partially eaten by a grizzly bear.
As with all books in this series there is much more to the story and lots of blood and gore involved. Pendergast is drawn in when a local arsonist emerges and someone appears desperate to stop Corrie at any cost. What is so terrible about this past secret that has everyone on edge?
If you are new to the series start with book 1 [book:Relic|67035] and persist for the first few in the series. I love it and cannot wait to read the next book!

Not bad. A bit far fetched but probably better than most crime thrillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book

Once again this two writers have written a great book. The story starts with what was said to be a grizzly bear attack on seven miners in the late 1800's. However when the bones are removed from their graves to allow expansion of a new ski resort archaeologist Corrie Swanson suspects that something different happened and starts to investigate, but someone is determined to stop her finding out what really happened. Once again Agent Pendergast comes in to help her and find out what they are trying to hide. A great book with many twists and turns that holds your interest to the very end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting as always, Preston & Child

I have always found Preston & Child highly entertaining and very readable. This book is no different, except that they have made Agent Prendergast a little bit strange this time.

Nonetheless these books are hard to put down.

I like the easy to read writing style. Although I'm not into fantasy or sci fi the Pendergast series is very believable nonetheless.
