Bought two for glamping in my shiftpod tent using goalzero yeti 400 battery. Works really well. Two was almost one too many. Quality construction and low power consumption. Very versatile.
My only criticism is the quality of the connection when daisy chaining the units. A modest bump or tug easily dislodges the connection between the units. Easy to avoid when the light is on, harder to avoid when you are feeling around in the dark for the light itself. So I had to keep the cords very tidy, and may use duct tape to create a tighter connection.
Still, I am a huge goalzero fan and recommend giving these nifty lights a try.
Besides testing it out of the box, I’ve not used it for prolonged period. Light quality at high (with 2) is adequate for reading (even with my old eyes). Low level makes a perfect night light. I like the durability of the plug. The downside is the proprietary plug design but I won’t have to worry about cable/plug breaking in pin or usb connectors. That being said, would like to find adapter so light could be used with smaller USB battery chargers when needed.
Oh my mistake!! I bought this light thinking it was solar power. Since I don’t have a solar generator the only way I have to charge it is in my car. Bummer. Guess I’ll read more closely next time. I can’t rate it a five because so far it has not charged.
Disappointed to discover that it uses proper adapters and so require additional equipment from goal zero! They do mention this in their advertising, but it was far enough down that I didn't see it. I should have paid closer attention. Anyway, I like open systems, and am now the owner of a bulb I can't use...
Quite a bit better than light-a-life mini if you have a Yeti. I like two power settings, and variable cable length. They really put thought into cable management. I also like that it can be either hung or put, albeit its dimmer when put on something.
I would have bought second one to chain if it wasn't so expensive though.
What can you say, it's a Goal Zero product. It's simply the best. But as with all their products they have a serious pricing problem. They are WAY over priced, hence the four stars. Five stars if they brought their prices back to realistic numbers.
Love the bright light, adjustable shade, linkable feature and the magnetic attachments. This light is exceptionally well engineered and thought through. There’s only one suggestion I’d make to the design team and it’s that the adjustable carabiner pinches the electric power cord so much it tend to cut into the cordage slightly, damaging it slightly every time it’s adjusted.
Very innovative, very cool design. So far, I love these lights. The dual brightness setting is useful, and I’ve found that on low, the light is really efficient. Built in cord storage makes packing them up easy. There’s a problem with the caribiner, which has sharp internal edges, and mars the cord when sliding it through. Other than that small issue, it’s almost perfect.
