How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good start.... poor finish

I admired Daniel Craig for his acting long before he came to the Bond films. Despite much initial concern about his suitability for the character of Bond I think he has brought a new rough masculinity which made Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace sufficiently raw and different - films which I enjoyed and which I felt had a sustained excitement and production quality throughout.
Skyfall, unfortunately, is another matter.
Every new Bond film has an impressive list of predecessors to match, or improve upon, and, taking the Bond genre all in, we have worked our way through gadgets, glamour, incredible technological weaponry, and global threats on an apocalyptic level. It was perhaps inevitable that such a fantastic diet could not be maintained indefinitely. So, to try to make things a bit different, the film-makers opted for a lower profile 'revenge' theme as its central plot. However here, in Skyfall, we now see a very ordinary, very tired, and below-par Craig, an equally tired and dispirited M (Judi Dench), and a somewhat jokey and abstracted villain Silva (Javier Bardem). In fact Silva appears as a rather forlorn figure, without any of the usual villain-ish trappings of vast wealth and organisational power, and hardly commands respect as a major aggressor to the civilised world we are used to seeing in this type of movie.
The disappointment is generally caused through a weak and tired script: the obsessive revenge theme between Silva and M, being decorated by side-actions and subplots which are slight, unconvincing, and do not sustain credibility. The vital missing list of agents, for example, so important at the beginning of the film, is simply forgotten as the film rolls on.
There just isn't the high-octane excitement, or the big build-up. What should have been a thrilling climax shoot-out at the end is amateurish and predictable in both concept and arrangement; in short, worthy of a 'B' movie. All the actors are capable of giving so much more, and deserve better material to work with. What on earth is the likes of Ralph Fiennes doing in such a relatively slight cameo role?
In the Bond films to date we have been used to seeing beautiful, larger-than-life characters, doing remarkable and frighteningly dangerous things on fantastic sets. That is what they were about, and why they appealed. Skyfall under-performs in just about all those areas (with the exception of beautiful Bérénice Marlohe), and has not got any compensating features to counterbalance the deficit. (To know what I think is 5-stars worth of excitement and plot development is, look to the Bourne trilogy.)
I don't know what the Bond producers will try next; in fact, for nostalgic and sentimental reasons, I hope they don't make another Bond movie.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could not gift it as it came opened (not sealed) with a slip of handwritten note from seller to rate it! Was advertised as NEW,

I ordered it to give it as a gift to a friend (promised gift). But when I received it, I found that the sealed packaging was missing (i.e. the transparent polyfilm cover was removed by the seller). Also, seller had left a slip of handwritten note inside requesting to rate the product. This was very disappointing. Firstly, this is not ethical i.e. to advertise a product as NEW and sell it without the original sealed packaging. How can I know that this was not a used product? Second, I wanted to give it as a gift, but since it came without the sealed packaging, I can not gift it.

So I played the discs for myself and they played fine and there were no visible marks on the cover, however, I did not like the approach of seller (removing the original sealed packaging and leaving notes inside the disk packaging requesting feedback).

VERY DISAPPOINTED as I had to buy the same set again to gift.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not all Blu Ray!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2013

Quantum Of Solace + Casino Roayale are on Blu-Ray as advertised, but be aware that Skyfall is not a Blu-Ray disk but a DVD!

And despite the Blu-Ray Jewel-Case Skyfall is neither HD (High Definition) nor has an DTS-Soundtrack.
(It is in fact just SD + AC3)

This was made clear nowhere in the item's description.
Also surprisingly none of reviewers here seems to have noticed or is bothered the slightest.

I would not have bought this item had I known.

2.0 out of 5 stars "Completely Screwed Up!"

This is a package of three Blu Ray Disks and one DVD.
I only was able to watch two out of the three Blu Ray movies because one of the disks, Quantum of Solace was unplayable stating that it can only be played on a Region B player which is strange because Skyfall is also listed as Region B and plays fine. Here's the breakdown of the three movies.
Blu Ray:
Casino Royale, Region A, B & C (No Problem)
Quantum of Solace, Region B (Unviewable)
Skyfall, Region B (No Problem even though it is Region B)
DVD:
Skyfall, Region B (No Problem even though it is Region B)
