Quite a good film, and was well worth watching. I found it very reminiscent of the 60's when the series was first aired on tv, over here ! It kind of reminded me about the James Coburn Our man Flint series of films as well. These are both of the Spy movie type. If you were around during the sixties as I was, then you can rack your brain to appreciate the beginning of a good start up to a series of films. Although they both played their characters well. However, I still prefer the Robert Vaughn and David McCallum version's of The Man From U.N.C.L.E........
Film oozes style. Guy Ritchie knows his stuff! A sequal is well worth it. There is an obvious throwback to Steve McQueen. Henry Cavil comes across as Thomas Crown with the check suits, whereas Arnie Hammer does Frank Bullit/Thomas crown in the casual clothes department -As well as the Matisse bike from the Great Escape. And the woman's sunglasses straight out of 'Two for the road' with Audrey Hepburn. make sure you get Albert Finney for the sequal.
I enjoyed the feel of this film. It seemed to capture what I remembered from the series, but even if you hadn't seen it there would have been no detriment. All of the actors/actress's captured the spirit of the film and ran with the characters they were given. Here's hoping we get a sequel out of it.
I loved the series and this movie manages to tap into the nostalgia and tone of the original. It's brilliantly fun and silly but still delivers action and tension. All three leads did a fantastic job. Strongly recommend.
