Very disappointed with DVD as it comes with German subtitles which cannot be removed and so spoils enjoyment of the film unless you are German and can't understand English! I thought it might be a one-off but the replacement DVD had the same problem.Pity because it's a great film in every other respect.
Just watched the 60th anniversary issue and was really disappointed...The picture quality was awful compared to the studio canal collection version (book ) which is brilliant. The sound is a little better and you get a few more extras but i strongly suggest you buy the studio canal collection blu ray which also includes a nice book on the film.
Lionsgate somehow slipped a new disc pressing of their "The Ladykillers" blu-ray with the the StudioCanal Collection packaging. Numerous extras are listed on the back cover (and are indeed listed on Amazon's site) but are nowhere to be found on the disc. I've tried researching what might have caused this lapse, but I've found nothing beyond other customer reviews here on Amazon.
I don't think this is the fault of Amazon. Lionsgate obviously produced a problematic product and made no efforts to be transparent about it. I'm puzzled as to why they would do so without reprinting the cover slip, with the list of extra features removed.
I'd proceed with caution before purchasing this blu-ray, which is unfortunate as "The Ladykillers" is without a doubt worth owning.
Ah well. A film of it's time, with a charming conceit. I bought it because I do that kind of thing from time to time; I get classic old British films on reputation, forgetful of bitter experience. Read Flowers for Algernon instead.
I haven’t yet watched the movie. That is irrelevant for the problem. The disc lists commentary and interviews and documentaries about the film. The disc has none of that. The extras are as important to me in certain older films as the film itself. Highly frustrating when this happens
