To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I bought the Australian MIB Trilogy title (BDP26179) at a pretty good price, mainly because I wanted the first film and the three-pack was only a few dollars more than the first title by itself.
I started watching the first film and was disappointed to discover that it was subtly censored - like an airplane version. The first instance of this censorship is minutes into the film when Tony Shalhoub's character, angry after losing his head, calls Tommy Lee Jones an "insensitive jerk" - the original insult is a bit spicier.
My research indicates these changes were made long ago to appease the British Board of Film Classification in order to get a more commercially desirable rating in that country. For whatever reason, this censored British Blu-ray master has found its way into my Australian M-rated MIB Trilogy case.
It's only a few seconds of the film that are different but it leaves a sour taste in the mouth and another annoying gap in my collection I'll have to fill with an import at some point.
Im very surprised that Amazon continue to to advertise this product falsely. If your after a 4k transfer look elsewhere as this is a nice boxset but 1080p blu-ray only.
Im extremely annoyed as another site offered a good black friday deal on MIB1-3 4K discs, i didn't purchase because of this item being advertised as 4k and in a nice boxset, typically i can no longer get that deal!
Now going through he inconvenience of returning the item in lock down....
Warning if you're eyeing up the good price of the 4K UHD version - it isn't! It's a standard Blu-ray copy. Luckily Amazon are good about returns, but after two attempts this isn't just an isolated issue.
And if you're actually after the 1080p version, buy that, it's half the price!
I was thinking of buying the first two movies and then thought I would wait to see if a collectors / limited edition would come out and it did. I am glad that I waited - the presentation alone is very good and sits well at the side of my James Bond Limited Edition and Bladerunner edition. Well worth the but and the quality of tghe films themseleves are great.
I live in Dubai and having them delivered was far cheaper than purchasing out here - so another good mark for Amazon.
An excellent and hugely entertaining spoof SF set of films. All three films are equally as good. Could watch many times - they do not become stale over time. UPDATE - after several watchings down rated from 5 star (excellent/outstanding) to 4 star (good/very good). Still well worth watching and highly recommended.
