Family guy have came back with a great series. It is an improvement on season nine with some new ideas and the return of some old characters such as jillian. Some strange endings but nothing predictible. I would say as mentioned you might havce to watch some of the earlier family guy episodes to understand some of these ones better but as a fan who has seen all seasons this was just entertaining as the rest.
Family Guy is now getting into it's 9th year in the US, and as such, is starting to show the usual down spiral. Season 8, which is mainly featured here was a long one, and some of it very funny - but 9 seems to have gone downhill rather rapidly. The first episode - which is meant to be in widescreen is brilliant, and very funny. The gang are all in for a weekender of whodunnit, with Carter getting some of the better lines, and of course, Peter. The best episodes have to be found on disks 1 and 2 though, like the one where Stewie pretends to be a girl to be on his favourite show; Peter's amnesia and of course, Meg's time in the big house!
Otherwise this is mediocre, if it wasn't for the extra stuff in this set I wouldn't have been that impressed. The script was really what I wanted, and actually is better than the 150th episode, which was a bit dull to be honest. Sadly a certain UK television network would not show the full hour episode, so if you love FG then this is actually a plus for you.
The T-shirt is good too, sadly you can only get one size, which is large, so this might not be a good purchase for everyone. The box is splendid - showing off the scene where Brian and Stewie are stuck in the vault in Quohog Bank, which is funny in it's own way.
What else can you expect from this? Well they have included the Com Con 2010 exhibition where usually the gang act out a scene from a show in the last series (which would have been 8 then). There's also a strange featurette where we get a tearjerker episode from American Dad. There's also some deleted scenes from the episodes here, and some commentaries. I actually enjoy the FG extras, because I love the show and enjoy seeing extra bits Seth might have lying around, and the Com Con stuff is always a giggle.
So why did it lose a star? Well it's not as funny as it used to be, and really the first 3 episodes of S9 should be in widescreen. Also it's expensive at the time of writing.
Worth getting if you're a megafan, otherwise I'd probably recommend looking at the standard edition DVD, as £8 more for a T shirt and script is a bit wild.
