Neatly tying up the series

The third, and sadly for the fans, final season of the show. You won't be looking at this unless you've seen the other seasons, and it won't make the slightest bit of sense if you haven't watched them either. It's probably easier to think of this as the third part of a trilogy, with the themes and arcs spanning all three seasons.

Largely it's business as usual - sex, politics, genius, a little bit of the supernatural mixed in for good measure, starting in Otranto at the point that Season 2 ended, and defending Italy from the invading Ottomans is the theme for the season.

It's perhaps a little over long, spending the second half of the season putting a few blocks in place for the never to be made next season, but happily it largely ties everything up, and while there are some minor threads that you would have expected to seen pulled on in the future, it's nothing of any great significance. Generally it's pretty satisfying, no great shocks or surprises, but keeps up the standards set in the first two seasons, and allows the characters to develop. They even bring Dracula back - who can't love that?

Like the blu ray releases of the other seasons, no extras to speak of so you just get the shows. Personally I'm not too fussed about it, but it does leave a bare bones feel to the package.

Up to expectations, with some excellent period detail. We know that Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) built weapons of war for Cesare Borgia (1475-1507) when the latter was Captain General of the Papal Army, but this fact has been ignored, which was a disappointment to me. Instead, Vlad Dracula (1431-1476) from Romania of all people is re-introduced, helping the Christians fight the Moors in Italy which is one hell of a stretch, even for this romp of a series, which plays fast and loose with recorded history.
The fascinating Borgia family certainly played a part in Da Vinci's life, but there is no mention of them anywhere in this series, which I found very odd.

Eine tolle Serie geht zu Ende

Da Vinci's Entwürfe für Waffen die er noch nicht einmal gebaut hatte wurden gestohlen, verbessert und werde nun von den Osmanen gegen ihn eingesetzt und Italien erleidet starke Verluste. Leonardo muss nun versuchen seine eigenen Waffen zu besiegen.
Die 3. und leider letzte Staffel setzt sich da fort wo die 2. aufgehört hat. Die 3. Staffel hat nicht mehr die Qualität der Folgen der 2. Staffel, ist aber weiterhin sehr gut und immer noch stärker als die 2. Staffel. Die 3. Staffel landet wohl komplett im Fantasy bereich, ich weiß nicht ob darin noch irgendwas der Realität entspricht. Trotzdem schafft es die Serie so ziemlich realistisch wirkend und nicht wirklich wie eine komplette Fantasy Serie darzustellen bis zur 8. Folge.

Die Geschichte ist weiterhin extrem Spannend und hat in dieser Staffel eine teilweise düstere Atmosphäre. Dramatik gibt es weiterhin, gute Action, interessante Geschichte und gute Charaktere. Diese Staffel fängt stark an wird dann wieder sehr gut in den Folgen 3-7 und wird danach wieder etwas schwächer, mit einem viel zu kurzem Staffel-Finale. Die Charaktere sind weiter gut und Sympatisch mit überzeugenden Darstellern, einzig was aus der Figur Riario gemacht wurde gefällt mir nicht, was ich meine wird man wissen wenn man die Staffel gesehen hat. Ein wenig Witz ist auch in diesmal wieder dabei. Das Staffel-und Serien Finale ist leider viel zu kurz ausgefallen, viele Rätsel und Geheimnisse bleiben ungeklärt, die Zukunft der Hauptfiguren erfährt man leider auch nicht, da wäre zumindest noch eine Abschluss Episode und eventuell sogar noch eine 4. Staffel drin gewesen. Insgesamt weiterhin eine gute und spannende Serie mit schwachen und starken Folgen und einem viel zu kurzem Staffel Finale und man kann bei einigem nicht mal erahnen was da noch passiert wäre. Insgesamt 3,8/5 Sternen.
