5.0 out of 5 starsAnother winner for Pendergast
Reviewed in Australia on 27 October 2016
As always this was a wonderful story and as always now I will have to wait ages for the next one! I can never get enough of Pendergast and " Constance. I liked that there was more of Proctor in this book and finally got some answers as to his past. I had only one small niggle and that was with editing - there were many instances of "of" and "off" being wrongly used and for a book that uses language so effectively it jarred just a little. It wasn't enough to spoil the story - nothing can do that for a Pendergast book. I hope the guys are writing the next one already because the waiting is hard.

2.0 out of 5 starsPlease proof read the ebooks!

The book itself was great! 5 stars all the way. But the ebook presentation was full of spelling errors. I advised Kindle who wanted to talk about it, but didn't fix it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I wonder if she's really gone for good! Let's hope so.

In my view, this book of Agent Pendergast series is too concentrated on the complex and somewhat irritating person of Constance Greene. It strays from the main course that usually puts Agent Pendergast in the centre of the novel.

There are a number of books in this series - a couple of them really good but this is an insipid re-hash of character and plot that just makes for a diverting read on a long journey . Sometimes a series simply fails because there is nothing original left to do with the plot or characters - which is exactly where this novel stands.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not their best

I've just reread the entire series before reading this one, and I have to say this feels like the weakest book in the series by far. None of the twists and turns or subtle plot lines of other books in the series... shame, this is by far my favourite book series of all time. I hope the next one gets a bit more love and attention!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so good

This may be the last of this series that I buy. Its nowhere near as good as earlier books in the series. The previous two books weren't so good either so sadly, I think the series has lost its way.

Have read every one of the Pendergast series and couldn't wait for this one. Not my favourite. No real crime thread to follow. Hope the next one is better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Please let that be the end of Constance and the other one. (spoilers)

I hope we are done with both Constance and Diogenes, they are two of my least favorite characters in the Pendergast universe. Neither was I thrilled by the way Proctor was treated as a character, the end of his storyline was ludicrous. What little we saw of Agent Pendergast did him little justice. Please let Constance live out her life in the monastery and I hope Diogenes is never heard of again, let A.X.L. be who he is best the smartest, most eccentric person in the room with a few smartass mundanes to keep him grounded.

I have been a Pendergast enthusiast since Relic but the last few novels are less interesting every time. The writing is superb as always but the stories are no longer interesting enough. I may continue reading future books but I am no longer looking forward to them with eagerness.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing

This duo shines when they write stories about unique circumstances and characters. Unfortunately, this story was a re-hash of the tired characters of Constance and Diogenes. It read like a VC Andrews novel instead of a Preston & Child one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aloysius Pendergast is not the man he used to be.

Ah, Aloysius Pendergast, how I loved you. I looked forward to every new book, ready to suspend all disbelief. .. alas, this latest instalment is no Cabinet of curiosities. I sighed and smirked and longed for the end, and when it came, I was so disappointed by the whole thing.
