4.0 out of 5 starsThis is the 5th book in this very good series.
Reviewed in Australia on 25 August 2021
In this instalment a young boy is killed in a hit and run and the car that hit the boy is traced back to a member of the Navy. Tracy finds herself dealing with a military that appears to want to close ranks and protect one of their own.
In this book we also get to know Del, one of Tracy's colleagues a lot better. He is dealing with the death of his niece due to a drug overdose.
A lot in this story and certainly quite a few twists.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like an episode of NCIS!

‘Close to Home’ is the fifth installment in the outstanding Tracy Crosswhite series. Robert Dugoni is one of my top authors however I have tended to read this series over time and disparately but to be honest it makes no difference. Robert Dugoni's way of stringing words together makes it easy to follow both the mystery/action along with the personal stories of the characters. He takes the mystery trope and delivers the right amount of twists to make it feel believable but surprising and unpredictable in my opinion.

This too was yet another story of intrigue and sadness. It brought several sinister plots to the forefront including coverups, death and drugs that plague society today and in the fast pace way he delivered it kept me swiping into the wee hours of the morning.

I did struggle through some of the legalese parts but found them interesting and informative. I don’t know if it’s just the fact that I’m just not into books with a Military theme but I also felt this meant I had to concentrate far more than his previous books.

That being said, as always, Dugoni has a great team and there is much detail and research given. He has delivered another well written, fast moving book. If you like NCIS you will love this book!!

This book had twists and turns keeps you guessing, we always think we know......? Even the experts don't always get it right. Reading this it makes you wonder in the real world how many times this sort of thing happens. 2 stories that are related by circumstance. A young girls dies and are young boy in a hit and run at first it's like how do these stories fit together but it was written so well it just all made sense.

Nice to have a happy ending - in this case, two! A good plot with two investigations and new characters made for an interesting read, a good outcome for the cases, and something to smile about at the end. Robert, love your writing and I have a number to read, but, keep them coming.

Many twists and turns. Keeps you in suspense in every chapter. Tracy and her team are involved in finding murderers. Drug dealers and people who kill to hide the evidence. But they did not realise that Tracy never gives up.

I was worried , with this being the fith in the series that I wouldn't enjoy it as much as the others...boy, was I wrong! I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters are always well rounded and developed, there's no superficiality about them. The 'whodunnit' aspect kept me guessing and I always end up up late trying to get to the end to make sure everyone I care about vis safe. Thanks for another great book

Loved the layout of the story, the way he has 2 different stories running at the same time and then you realize that they are connected. Tracy Crosswhite is indefatigable in solving her cases. Love the camaraderie between the A team and their support of each other outside of work too. Thrilling!

Yes I stayed up to 3:30am reading to find out who done it!
Seems to be a habit with these Tracy Crosswhite books.
I really enjoyed the new character Leah and how she and Tracy interacts. Hopefully she will be a regular in future books.
