To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I bought this thinking of the days that I was able to watch this on TV and from what I remember, I was right! I played some of the shows last night and really enjoyed them. It was nice to have a cartoon that still made me laugh that didn't have the added 'violence' like some of the cartoons of today have. For the two of us, shows like the "Simpson's" (of which we have seem some of them and did NOT like them) and some of the other cartoons which really seem to be influenced by violence. I also realize that in this day and age you have to root out the good and bad in all things these days -- no matter what you buy -- and try to find the fun/good in most of what you buy for TV entertainment. If it requires that a person just take a 'violent' scene with a grain of salt and yet, can still enjoy the movie you are watching -- then watching the movie you wanted to 'enjoy' was not watched in vain.
I also realize that the making of these cartoons may not be as good as the ones that are made today, but I still think that they are good enough cartoons to watch without having to put up with a lot of violence in them. As one other reviewer said about this, that it was for 'the kid in you', they were right. It does bring back a lot of laughs for that generation as we didn't have to have really trashy scenes in order to watch a funny cartoon in those days. All in all, I am NOT disappointed with my purchase. When I want to have a laugh, I can come back to this series any time I want and I don't have to watch anything I don't want anymore.
Since we got rid of our 'basic cable' -- which we felt was not very good in the first place -- I have had a bit more money to put elsewhere so I CAN enjoy watching a bit of TV at the end of the day WITHOUT having the influence of the stupid cable, the commercial influence that it gives the public, and also that NOW they try and charge you more for cable than what they did less than 10 years ago for the same garbage, we only have to now see it on the internet (which is bad enough)! When the cable companies started charging us more for the constant repeat of old shows and new shows with more violence in them, I figured what is the point of having cable when you can watch MOST of what the cable companies show WITHOUT having to put up with the stupid commercials as well? When you have to put up with this when you're watching TV -- it really tells me WHO is in charge of the media!
The first season of the Flintstones has some of the best episodes because its target audience was largely adult. Therefore there are some situations that an adult can appreciate better than a child. It's classic sitcom and a classic of animated humor.
I have seen all the episodes at least three times over. One of the funniest series to grace television. The Prowler is my favorite episode. While the extras aren't much I really don't care. Just having the complete first season at my disposal at any time is enough for me. Can't wait till Season two!
