I loved it and expect I'll be rereading it again in the future. This book is a solid 4 and a half stars which I've bumped up to five as Amazon doesn't do half stars.
An impressive winding together of various believable motivations and plots into a single gripping novel within a growing body of excellent writing about the Riyria, a duo of rapscallions with good hearts. Recommended
I actually have the pre-order book (not the audio book) and really enjoyed Royce and Hadrian's latest outing. Winter's Daughter happens to be Jenny (whom we have already met in later books, she is the Duchess with the heart of gold.) and the boys have been approached to find out what has happened to the wine merchant's missing daughter. She has been kidnapped and presumed dead by most in town, including husband Leo, but the boys take the job and immerse themselves in the goings on in the seedy side of Rochelle. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
With everyone of MJS novels I laugh, cry, sigh, get over excited running through a plethora of emotions from sadness to joy. I can’t read fast enough as he grips me from the 1st paragraph, leading me through a rip roaring ride through his world, then u reach the end and have to read it all over again as they are all so darn good. Of your a fan of his work you’ll understand. I your new here, you can read this book without any prior knowledge, but my suggestion is go straight to the beginning and enjoy the ride all the way through. The stories are fun, exciting, sad and just AwEsOmE ! Nice one MJS, nice one.
A favourite author of mine so expectations were high. It's not an epic but it had enough to tide me over until his next book comes out. This story is a Royce and Hadrian tale and as these characters are incredibly well written I find the story to be less important. However the plot does alright and can be read as a stand alone or alongside the rest of the series. There was enough in the book that I have read it a second time since buying and picked up on little things I missed the first time. For that it deserves 5 stars
The worst thing about Mr Sullivan is…. He doesn’t write quick enough, ( I even emailed him and told him and got a personal email back) we want more! He’s captured the friendship or hatred(if you’re reading in chronological order) perfectly between Royce and Hadrian, I can see myself having the same banter / conversations with my closest friend. Amazing characters and fantastic storyline!! Read them all!!!!
After reading the Riyria revelations it was great to read the Riyria chronicles. It was a fitting end to Royce and Hadrians adventures to know how it all started.Loved the books quite sad to see it end.
The Riyria books are superb and this was just as delightful. There were some great twists that only added to the pleasure. I can’t wait for the next one. This is an author who doesn't need to leave cliff-hangers to attract readers.
