Not a Gripping Thriller

The premise is very interesting but unfortunately the book doesn't deliver. The main character is remarkably naive for an adult and an academic, bordering on stupid. Her husband is shacked up with another woman but she repeatedly messages him asking when he's coming home. No arguments over his desertion of herself and their children, which makes her sound quite pathetic. When she's trapped in the house with the antagonist she is internally wondering if her father and friend heard her yell the code phrase over tge phone, notwithstanding the fact that she made an alternative arrangement with someone else.
Unfortunately there are many similar holes in the story. I found the main character annoying and frustrating. The long internal monologues were tedious.
The book had a lot of potential but did not quite deliver
