4.0 out of 5 starsA flat out peak adventures
Reviewed in Australia on 9 November 2018
There are two unconnected murder stories here that cross over only at the police station. This does get confusing. The author is trying to fit too much in and doesn't quite get it right but pretty good.

The first is a missing person then death of an Indian descent American student. The story revolves around arranged marriages and family honour. It also involves becoming a escort to finance medical school through a sugar daddy website.

Robert has undertaken his usual research but his take on this is through the eyes of a person unfamiliar with traditional Indian culture. Tracy is diverted by overlaying her values onto the case and the investigation becomes bogged down. Eventually as Tracy thinks to herself the answer is obvious.

This story allows Tracy to step through her pregnancy and some of the real issues women have to face in life and the workplace. Trying to contrast this to another culture doesn't quite come off.

The second story has Robert on more familiar ground drugs and gangs. The murder of a local activist for her campaign against gangs and drugs. The person of interest, a local gang leader, is obvious. The story is about the detective work to bring him to justice. This becomes very personal and dangerous.

The inclusion of a new detective In the team causes some waves. Who is she? We have Detective Faz facing personal problems and health issues for his wife. Overall interesting but not quite up to five stars.

Couldn't get into it, I put it in my "try again" folder. Maybe a bit too much " chat", and not enough interesting excitement.

OMG my heart, I wanted to jump ahead to find out what happened. I just love the A team, 2 different cases one a young woman who wanted to become a doctor and refused to live up to expectations of her family where she should get married have a family and not work. The second one trying to find out who shot a woman trying to keep drugs of the streets and do her best for the kids to have a better future. My heart broke when Faz and Vera got some devastating news.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another social issue looked at in this well researched and written crime series.

Mr. Dugoni has published another quality book covering a social issue, this time of arranged marriages from the points of view of two young women and their families living in the US. With no preaching or bias an intelligent story-line emerges from the murder of one of the women. Tracy Crosswhite as the lead investigator brings the investigation to a close. Drug trafficking is also dealt with in a parallel investigation by close members of Tracy's A team violent crimes members. The characters' lives are further progressed in this novel. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite enjoyable reading.

Just like the predecessors to this book, it stays focussed and moving. It doesn’t get bogged down with extraneous bumf and the stories are completed and questions answered. In reality the book probably only deserves three and a half stars because it is fairly simple and straightforward........and the ending, fairly predictable. I like something that has possibly a little more meat to the story.
Still......an enjoyable read that I wanted to finish so I could get all the pieces in place. If there is a number 7, I’ll be looking out for it anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tracey Crosswhite entire series

I have really enjoyed every one of this series - have just binged read them in order and found that kept the theme rolling along nicely. Each book could be read on its own without the series but think the continuity is better. Each book though has a different event/murder which shows the author has talent to pull the reader into each story but each book's background blends together. Feel they are very well researched. This is an excellent author and I will continue to read each and every book he writes.
Highly recommended. To the author, thank you.

A good read, with lots of police and personal issues, and some surprises. Some sadness, but a great ending, and I have to admit that I got pretty emotional at the end!
Six down, more to look forward to!

I have found a number of things about this author that fascinate me , he never put all his eggs in one basket . By this I mean he has a tendency not to have the one dashing hero that masterfully solves all the crimes . Instead he has lots of ordinary folk who do the hard work with determination and dedication and in my opinion this makes for good reading . Well done again Robert Dugoni .

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable Tracy Crosswhite Novel

I stumbled across this series of books this year and have managed to read all of them in the past 6 months. So clearly I am enjoying them. I find that they are a quick, light read and usually something I finish in a night or two. This book develops some of the other characters that are regulars in the Crosswhite series which was a nice addition. If you have read the other novels in the series you will enjoy this one too.

Robert Dugoni never disappoints. His writing and storyline are always plausible, detailed and excellent. I am an avid follower of Crosswhite and am now branching out to his other books. I have been more than pleased with every one and he is an author well worth reading.
