How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Things are Not What They Seem

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as it gave the reader a feel for what it is like to work
behind the scenes for a high profile person and how loyal Huma was working many long hours
for a boss who was also her friend. It also gave an insight that no one really knows a person
even when married to someone as there is often a dark side that the spouse is not aware of
and when this dark side was revealed it effected her marriage and extended family in a crucial
way. A real good read and a page turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars A serious and well written book

I expected it to be a “dense” book that would take time to read and digest. In part it was but it was easy to read and follow. I admire how she handled the issues with her ex husband and with President Clinton. She was able to present both as more that the salacious headlines, real people with real gravitas.
I don’t pretend to understand her husband’s illness but she handled with great humanity.
She describes an America I fear is gone but it was nice to be reminded of what used to be important.

3.0 out of 5 stars Superficial PR disguised as biography

I really wanted to like this book. I come from a similar background as Ms. Abedin and have followed her career. After reading all 500+ pages I cannot say that I actually know her any better which is a disappointing conclusion to draw from an autobiography. She skirts over major episodes of her life (including her husband’s worst transgression) and mostly just recites facts. She never takes a strong stance on anything or anyone and it became clear halfway through that this book is just a public relations move. She tried so hard not to offend anyone that she ended up not saying much of anything worthwhile. There are brief portions of the book that are poignant mostly relating to her parents but otherwise this is a lifeless account of what should be a fascinating life. I was disappointed and sadly do not recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suffering is optional.,.The Cure for Pain is in the Pain

If Hilary Rodham Clinton was elected president in 2016, there would have never been this book. I truly believe that Her ex husband, Anthony Weiner, was a promising and rising democratic congressman. Their marriage was plagued by Her husband’s infidelities and sex addiction.

In public, they held it together for a long time. I still think that they have a mutual love for each other as they raise their son, Jordan. Huma’s life is remarkable as she is one of the few Muslim American women to become Chief of Staff to Secretary of Statw a Hillary Rodham Clinton. Their 25 year relationship is about friendship, loyalty and respect for each other. Huma has become like a second daughter.

There are many what ifs about the 2016 election. I have no doubt that Huma’s husband, Anthony Weiner, was targeted to help bring down Clinton’s election. There are other politicians out there who have gotten away with similar crimes.

Despite their marriage and divorce, Huma does not bare any ill will toward her ex husband. She mentions him in her acknowledgments too. They were two broken people but they couldn’t fix or complete each other. Huma does her best as an extraordinary wife and spouse to understand his illness and addiction.

2.0 out of 5 stars In a perfect world!

I disliked this book. The author has many privileges that many Americans do not have. She feels she is totally blameless for her husband’s behavior because they did not see each other often before marriage, thus she did not know his true character. The constant praising for Mrs. Clinton is annoying. I was waiting for Hillary Clinton to walk on water. Just a pity party for the innocent author!

I just received the book today and eagerly began reading it until I got to page 10 and only half of the page had printed. I noticed it again on page 19. One more page with misprints and the book will be returned.
