How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

If you're sick of movies that cater for 18 year-olds this just might do the trick. This actually requires a bit of historical knowledge and a couple of brain cells to enjoy, but if you have both you will probably not regret spending a couple of hours watching this. In fact, odds are you will want to watch it again just to catch up on everything you missed the first time around, it packs so much into its running time. Very well written, although I think it may have been better suited to a TV series as it's a little too compact for a relatively short feature film. But if you just want to get a taste of the hellhole that was early-80s Beirut, this gives a good safe-in-your-living-room simulation of what it must have been like. And it gives you extra appreciation that you're living in the relative safety that Western civilization provides for you. Long may it prosper!

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to do favours or help others who are unknown to you are terrorists. That is the moral of this film.... Good action and story, that is quite realistic.

Had never heard of this movie before I encountered it on Amazon. It’s a real thriller! So evocative of Lebanon during this time and place in history. Thanks Amazon!

It's the typical war of all the "organizations " fighting in the Middle East...who is the bad guy? Maybe they are all bad guys.
Predictable plot and so aggravating ,as the film is shot in the darkened screen, dark enough, you need to know who is who by the subtitles ( I use them)
showing who is speaking the dialog , and therefore in the screen shot.
Maybe shooting in the darkened screen is easier...you cannot see the surroundings , so no need to use the financial funds to create the surroundings ...just shadows and darker shadows.
I purchased the DVD as I am a fan of Jon Hamm and have not enjoyed his screen presence in awhile ...Jon, you deserve better.
