Charles Bowyer
5.0 out of 5 starsIntriguing to the End.

As a lawyer I am often fatigued from authors who focus on jury trials but I found the combination of CIA venality and its propensity to save face at any cost and to sacrifice Agents ( past & present) under the pretext of national security simply fascinating.

I enjoyed this book right up to the last page and word.

2.0 out of 5 starsToo complicated and tedious
Reviewed in Australia on 23 August 2019
A novel of two halves... the first never believable and the second too drawn out and complex. In general not engaged by the characters or the storyline. Some of the Moscow interlude was quite thrilling but then it dwindled to a rather tedious legal drama. Disappointing as I enjoyed reading his other novels.

Le Chasseur
4.0 out of 5 stars A great read

I enjoyed this adventure immensely. And it was an adventure in two parts: one being espionage, the other being the law case.

Both parts had the the essential element of credibility. The intrigue of the US spy network in Russia moulded into the US legal system being manipulated by the CIA.

This is a very pleasing book and I look forward to the sequel(s) with great anticipation.

Dugoni weaves familiar characters thru his stories while still having the ability to keep each 'episode' self contained and the plot fast paced.

Terrific read from start to finish. The conversational translations are exceptional. I did think it unusual that the Russian agent could track down a burner phone number.

Enjoyed the exitement of the Ruasian adventure and escape. Stricty a story with very different halves. The second part was cleverly written with the story line having many twists and turns.

I feel that I have just read two novels. One a bumbling spy thriller and the other a courtroom drama, but yes both stories mesh together perfectly. I really enjoyed this book

It was a well written story, maybe just a little bit too drawn out towards the end, but overall a good read as a holiday book.
