Charles Bowyer
5.0 out of 5 starsIntriguing to the End.
Reviewed in Australia on 12 April 2021
As a lawyer I am often fatigued from authors who focus on jury trials but I found the combination of CIA venality and its propensity to save face at any cost and to sacrifice Agents ( past & present) under the pretext of national security simply fascinating.

I enjoyed this book right up to the last page and word.

2.0 out of 5 starsToo complicated and tedious
Reviewed in Australia on 23 August 2019
A novel of two halves... the first never believable and the second too drawn out and complex. In general not engaged by the characters or the storyline. Some of the Moscow interlude was quite thrilling but then it dwindled to a rather tedious legal drama. Disappointing as I enjoyed reading his other novels.

A good book means late nights. Thank goodness as a 74year old with a back problem, I can please myself and sleep in? What would I do without books?

Le Chasseur
4.0 out of 5 stars A great read

I enjoyed this adventure immensely. And it was an adventure in two parts: one being espionage, the other being the law case.

Both parts had the the essential element of credibility. The intrigue of the US spy network in Russia moulded into the US legal system being manipulated by the CIA.

This is a very pleasing book and I look forward to the sequel(s) with great anticipation.

I feel that I have just read two novels. One a bumbling spy thriller and the other a courtroom drama, but yes both stories mesh together perfectly. I really enjoyed this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Certainly explains the great difference between the USSR and USA

The main character in this thriller retired from the FBI 20 years prior, then receives an invitation to rejoin them and return to the USSR to track down the very undercover 8 girls reporting on the USSR's operations to the USA.
Quite a few turns in most of the book with very interesting characters. Thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I have read a number of Robert Dugoni books and look forward to reading many more. Sloan or Crosswhaite they all hold your attention to the end. I particularly like that there is no bad language used.

Enjoyed the exitement of the Ruasian adventure and escape. Stricty a story with very different halves. The second part was cleverly written with the story line having many twists and turns.
