3.0 out of 5 stars Good gadget but overpriced

This lantern works well although I haven’t tested it’s time length I have had it on for 4 hours and it was still going strong, it also has a usb charging option as another option. This item is not as big as it looks in the images, the height is 10cm the width 12.7cm sq which is mug size. The item is overpriced and I would say it is worth £20

3.0 out of 5 stars over priced!

The battery takes quite a while to charge using the solar panel. The light is not very bright. Not sure how long it will last as I have not yet taken it camping, however, at CDN $34.99 this item is way over-priced for what you get. It should be half that. It is very light and should easily fit in my backpack with my other gear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great concept but....
Reviewed in the United States on 12 September 2019

We have owned 5 of these for about one year and used them every night for 6 months on our sailboat. We were looking for an alternative to Luci lights because they have such an aneseptic white light to them. Enter the Crush Light as a replacement and at first they were outstanding with a nice warm glow to the light. After 6 months of daily usage, here are some considerations for those interested in purchasing them: They take forever to charge using solar as a charging source. I'd set them out in the morning and they'd reach charge status (green light) only late in the afternoon and only if I made sure they were oriented correctly and not shaded. Not a set and forget style of charging at all. This was after using them nightly for anywhere from 2-3 hours a night on medium or low power. If you use them on high power, you will only get around 2 hours of use before they run out charge and stop. This is in stark comparison to Luci lights which last a lot longer and charge quite easily from setting them in the sun. We had one light have the LEDs pull away from the shade. Goal Zero did send a replacement very quickly. Last thing is after being used over the last year, the silicone shades have taken on the most awful smell. Cleaners didn't work so we resorted to the internet for how to revive the silicon. The smell is tolerable now but still there....

3.0 out of 5 stars Short life for daily use

Lasted 2-ish months, this thing won’t charge by solar, it’s a great idea, but stopped taking a charge even by usb. Color changing is cool but considering the lifespan and warranty (I don’t think there is one) it’s better to just get a usb chargeable lantern and forget these solar hiking lights. I had the same experience with Luci lights too, they’re okay for the 2 weeks a year camping trip but if you want this for a nightlight or to use regularly, don’t expect it to last. It’s a waste of plastic.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not lasting.

We liked the first one so much that we bought another.
Unfortunately the first one's collapsible shade has started tearing along the folds, and some slight tackiness to the touch leads me to assume that the wrong material or quality was employed for the greatest feature of this. Soon we'll be left with just a little square light, which is not what we wanted.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good lantern with gimmicky solar
Reviewed in the United States on 18 April 2022

I've had this on board a sailboat for the past year hoping I'd be able to leave it on deck and use it by night. Unfortunately even in the tropics with springtime sun, it takes several days to fully charge with the inbuilt solar cell. On the bright side, the battery lasts for a long time and the candle mode is nice, but I'd have preferred a flashing mode. The fact that you can USB charge it is the saving grace.

Light is bright and warm white and lasts a long while on the low setting. Good for illuminating a cockpit or the boat deck for collision avoidance at night.

3.0 out of 5 stars Awesome but handle broke
Reviewed in the United States on 16 August 2020

I think this item is quite convenient for the light packer for a camping trip. However, it was disappointing that the handle on it broke. You would think you would be able to take off the handle easily to attach it to things. I dont think it is convenient in that aspect. The light doesn't really last a long time, I personally had mine charging for quite a long time until it got dark and it lasted maybe an hour.

3.0 out of 5 stars Small. Not that bright.

It's smaller than I expected, but that's great if you're looking for a small, space-saving lantern for backpacking. I'm also unimpressed by the lamp on high power. I can imagine losing the charging cord, and I wish it had a way to keeping the two parts connected somehow with a clip.
